A Traveling and Self-Managed Festival
The Satourne Festival is a unique musical and human adventure in France. Created as a traveling festival, Satourne tours different French regions each summer, stopping mid-August at the Château de Meillant in the Cher department. What sets Satourne apart is its organization method: about thirty people commit collectively to self-finance and organize this entirely free music festival for the public.
An Eclectic Program
The festival offers a program mixing renowned artists and emerging talents, covering various musical genres: rock, electro, French chanson, world music, jazz, and experimental creations. For four days, concerts follow one another on a unique stage, offering the public a diverse and high-quality musical experience.
A Spectacular 6-Meter Stage
One of Satourne's visual signatures is its monumental 6-meter-high stage, draped in tulle and illuminated by visual creations by visual artists. This scenographic setup transforms each concert into an immersive visual experience, where music dialogues with light, projections, and artistic installations. The stage becomes a living work of art that evolves throughout the performances.
Visual Artists and Designers
Beyond music, Satourne places a central role on visual arts. Visual artists and video artists create works that adorn the stage, the festival grounds, and enrich the overall artistic experience. This multidisciplinary dimension makes Satourne a festival at the crossroads of the arts, where music and visual arts respond to and enrich each other.
A Free and Participatory Festival
True to its self-managed and participatory spirit, Satourne remains free for the public, operating on the principle of collective commitment and self-financing. The organizers, passionate volunteers, carry this project with the desire to make culture accessible to all and to create a space for sharing, meeting, and celebrating the performing arts.
The Château de Meillant as a Setting
The stop at the Château de Meillant offers an exceptional heritage setting for the festival. This Renaissance castle, an architectural gem of the Berry region, hosts the monumental stage and festival-goers in its park, creating a unique dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary creation.
