A journey through time in the heart of Sévérac castle

Since 1996, the show "Des Pierres et des Hommes" has transported spectators through more than 2000 years of history in the majestic setting of the main courtyard of the Château de Sévérac-le-Château. Produced by the association Mémoires de Sévérac, this sound and light show is performed by 150 volunteer actors, all residents of Sévérac-d'Aveyron, who bring this spectacular historical fresco to life.

17 scenes between local history and grand history

The show unfolds in 17 scenes with a total duration of 1 hour and 20 minutes. The plot follows two time travelers whose ship crashes in the castle museum. Guided by the memory of the stones, they travel through the centuries via the museum's objects, each piece triggering a journey through time. From antiquity to contemporary times, the history of Sévérac is intimately intertwined with the major events of the history of France and world discoveries.

Spectacular special effects

The production benefits from impressive technical resources: pyrotechnic effects, orchestral soundtrack, sophisticated lighting, monumental sets, fireworks, and carefully recreated period costumes and accessories. The staging emphasizes proximity to the audience, seated in the castle's main courtyard, for total immersion in history. Humor and emotion combine to make the show accessible to all audiences.

More than just a show, "Des Pierres et des Hommes" is a true collective project that mobilizes hundreds of volunteers from Sévérac-d'Aveyron: actors, technicians, seamstresses, set designers, stage managers. Every summer, the performances attract thousands of spectators who come to discover or rediscover this living fresco that is the pride of the Aveyron heritage.
