The street arts festival of Granville
Since 2003, the Sorties de Bain festival has taken over the streets, squares, and neighborhoods of Granville for four days of street arts. Supported by the team of l'Archipel, Granville's theater, the festival has grown to become one of the major cultural events in the city and in Normandy, while retaining its popular, accessible, and free spirit.
One of the strengths of Sorties de Bain is its total freeness. All performances are free to access, allowing all audiences to enjoy the shows without financial barriers. This philosophy, at the heart of the project since its creation, makes Sorties de Bain a truly popular and intergenerational event.
Each edition features around forty shows in the IN and OFF programs, covering all disciplines of street arts: street theater, contemporary circus, dance, music, storytelling, puppetry, visual arts, and performances. Companies, from all over France and sometimes beyond, take over Granville's public spaces to present original creations, often interactive and participatory.
The festival takes advantage of Granville's emblematic sites to create unique performance moments:
Since 2013, for its 10th anniversary, Sorties de Bain has expanded its reach to the more peripheral neighborhoods of Granville, bringing culture closer to the residents. This territorial outreach is one of the festival's specificities, as it refuses to be confined to the city center alone.
The festival is supported by l'Archipel, Granville's theater, which handles its artistic direction and organization. L'Archipel is a major cultural player in the region, offering a year-round performance season and developing cultural mediation activities for all audiences.
The 24th edition of Sorties de Bain will be held from Thursday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 5th, 2026, in the streets and neighborhoods of Granville. Under the theme 'Culture and Youth,' it brings together 20 companies in the IN and 19 in the OFF, for 127 free, open-access performances: street theater, aerial circus, dance, music, mime, clown, and participatory shows, presented by the team of l'Archipel, a national interest performing arts venue in Granville.
Sorties de Bain returns for its 24th edition from Thursday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 5th, 2026, under the theme 'Culture and Youth.' For four days, the privateer city of Granville transforms into a vast open-air stage: squares, courtyards, alleys, and neighborhoods of the Haute-Ville, the commercial port, Saint-Nicolas, Val-ès-Fleurs, and the city center host street arts companies.
On the program: 20 companies in the IN, 19 companies in the OFF, 4 'Voisins d'rue' (Street Neighbors) and 127 entirely free, open-access performances. Street theater, aerial circus, juggling, mime, puppets, dance, participatory shows, humor, clown, and musical performances follow one another for all ages.
Before the festival, street arts invite themselves into the surrounding communes: Cité Théâtre ('Emma de Normandie') on Friday, June 19th in Saint-Martin-de-Bréhal, La Volte ('La Balançoire géante') on Sunday, June 28th in La Haye-Pesnel, Bêstîa ('Fratello') on Tuesday, June 30th in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, and Les Vrais Majors ('Der Menschenfresser Berg… Ou la montagne') on Wednesday, July 1st in Donville-les-Bains.
