About Student Nocturnes

Every year, Les Nocturnes Étudiantes brings together Nancy's student community for a free back-to-school celebration at Place Carnot. Organized by Fédélor (the Lorraine Student Federation) in partnership with the Crous de Lorraine, the event features live concerts, DJ sets, and student association booths throughout the city center. Additionally, several local museums, including the Muséum-Aquarium and the Musée des Beaux-Arts, open their doors for free evening access based on an annual theme.

Student Nocturnes — edition 2026

The 28th edition takes place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 7:00 PM to midnight at Place Carnot, featuring a "Fluo Festival" theme. Fédélor expects around 15,000 students for live music and an association village, while several museums in Nancy will open their doors for free throughout the evening.

Thursday, September 24, 2026

  • 7:00 PM — Opening of the association and institutional village, live music and DJ sets · Place Carnot
  • 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM — Free entry to the Muséum-Aquarium, transformed into a "Fluo" space for the occasion: performances, face painting, games, and blind tests
  • 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM — Free entry to the Musée des Beaux-Arts, with themed activities throughout the evening
  • After midnight — Partner nightclubs open to keep the party going

Practical information

Practical information — Student Nocturnes

Admission is free, subject to venue capacity. Security checks are conducted at the entrance to Place Carnot; backpacks larger than 45 cm, dangerous items, and drones are prohibited. The site is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, and a first-aid station managed by the Protection Civile is located near the main stage. Fédélor also provides the FédéSafe service to support victims of discrimination or gender-based and sexual violence.

An event organized by Lorraine's students

Fédélor, the Lorraine Student Federation, hosts this annual event in partnership with the Crous de Lorraine to kick off the academic year. The event celebrated its 21st edition in 2018, and by 2025, it reached its 27th year, drawing over 15,000 students to Place Carnot for concerts and a vibrant student village.

Nancy's museums open after dark

Several city institutions, including the Muséum-Aquarium and the Musée des Beaux-Arts, offer free evening access to students for a special themed night. The Muséum-Aquarium has been a participant for 26 editions.
