From November 29 to January 5, this architectural gem set on an island in the Indre river welcomes visitors in a festive and warm atmosphere, blending heritage, gastronomy, and Christmas traditions.

Gourmet and Magical Themes

Each edition of The Spirit of Christmas is built around an original theme that guides the scenography and activities. The 2024-2025 edition highlighted gingerbread, with displays of finely decorated cookies, fairytale houses, and life-sized characters animating the castle rooms. The 2025-2026 edition explores the world of tales and legends, where heritage meets winter magic.

Enchanting Concerts and Shows

The musical program is a highlight of The Spirit of Christmas. A cappella concerts of Christmas carols resonate in the castle halls, performed by talented vocal ensembles like the quartet Make Christmas Great Again, who interpret Christmas Carols in the purest Anglo-Saxon tradition. Live shows, storytelling, and street entertainment complete the artistic program.

Workshops for Young and Old

The Spirit of Christmas offers a rich array of workshops and themed tours. Families can participate in special guided tours like “Cooking with Bertille”, which reveals the secrets of preparing a festive dinner at the castle. Culinary workshops led by chefs from Tours à Table allow children to learn gingerbread decoration. Creative activities complete the program throughout the school holidays.

The Enchanted Village of Azay-le-Rideau

Beyond the castle, the entire town of Azay-le-Rideau transforms into an enchanted village during the holidays. The streets are adorned with light decorations, an artisanal Christmas market is set up in the heart of the town, and various events punctuate the Advent weekends.
