The meeting point for amateur theatre in Anjou
Since 1996, the Théâtramadoué festival has offered an exceptional showcase for amateur theatre in the south of Anjou. Organized by the Théâtre du Sycophante, an amateur theatre troupe founded in Doué-la-Fontaine, this festival takes place every year in November over ten days and hosts a rich and varied program mixing comedies, dramas, theatrical readings, and contemporary creations.
An eclectic and demanding program
Each edition of Théâtramadoué features about ten shows presented by invited amateur troupes from the Pays de la Loire region, neighboring departments, the Paris region, and sometimes even from abroad — the festival has notably hosted a troupe from the Central African Republic. From classical to contemporary, from comedy to drama, the proposals reflect the diversity and vitality of amateur theatre. Performances mainly take place at the Théâtre Philippe Noiret in Doué-la-Fontaine, but also at Les Perrières and in other venues in the commune.
Workshops and training
In parallel with the performances, Théâtramadoué offers theatre practice workshops for teenagers and adults, led by professional actors. These workshops allow participants to discover or deepen various acting, improvisation, and directing techniques. A show for young audiences created by a professional company is also programmed in partnership with the cultural center of Doué-en-Anjou.
More than 25 years of theatrical passion
Since its creation, Théâtramadoué has hosted over a hundred amateur troupes and contributed to the influence of theatre practice in rural areas. The festival has become a regular event for a passionate audience that appreciates the quality of the shows offered and the friendly atmosphere of this human-sized event.
