Contemporary dance festival of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours
Each year before summer, the Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours (CCNT) invites the public to the Tours d'Horizons festival, an essential event for dance lovers that showcases the breadth of contemporary choreographic art. Since its inception, this festival has established itself as a highlight of the Tours cultural season, attracting an ever-widening audience, from dance enthusiasts to the curious of all generations.
The Tours d'Horizons festival stands out for the scale and diversity of its programming. Each edition brings together about twenty invited choreographers for thirty events: creations, revivals, performances, workshops, and artist encounters. The program encompasses all forms of contemporary dance, from intimate solos to large group pieces, from the most experimental creations to revisited repertoire works. This diversity allows the public to journey through the aesthetics and sensibilities that drive today's choreographic creation.
The Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours is one of the 19 labeled CCNs in France, centers dedicated to the creation and diffusion of contemporary dance. Located in the heart of Tours, the CCNT has creation studios, a performance stage, and residency spaces for artists. The Tours d'Horizons festival is the culmination of its season, showcasing the work of resident artists and hosting renowned national and international guest companies.
The festival is not limited to the walls of the CCNT: performances unfold in multiple venues throughout Tours and its metropolitan area, from theaters to public spaces, from museums to gardens. This itinerant approach creates unexpected encounters between dance and architecture, between movement and the urban landscape, offering the public unique and surprising experiences at each performance.
Beyond the performances, Tours d'Horizons offers a rich program of artist encounters, practical workshops open to all, and outreach activities designed to facilitate access to contemporary dance. These offerings allow the public to understand the creative processes, experiment with movement, and interact directly with choreographers and dancers, helping to demystify contemporary dance and broaden its audience.
