Cross-border trail starting from the Citadel of Montmédy
The Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts (TT2M) is a unique sporting event that starts from the superb Citadel of Montmédy, a fortress built under Charles V in 1545. Offering 12 and 30 km trail routes, this cross-border event takes runners through the rolling landscapes of the Meuse and neighboring Belgium. The start and finish of the TT2M take place from the Citadel of Montmédy, an imposing fortress erected in 1545 under the reign of Charles V and redesigned by Vauban in the 17th century. This historic monument, which dominates the Chiers valley, offers a spectacular setting for the starting village and the festive atmosphere of the event.

The new edition of the Transborder Trail of the 2 Mountains (TT2M) will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting from the Citadelle de Montmédy. The program includes: a 30 km long loop trail, a 12 km short loop trail, a 13 km gourmet walk, and a 2.4 km children's trail, all on routes crossing the Franco-Belgian border.
The Transborder Trail of the 2 Mountains returns on Sunday, October 11, 2026 for a new edition, starting and finishing at the Citadelle de Montmédy. Runners will set off on routes that cross the Franco-Belgian border, between the hills of northern Meuse and Belgian Gaume.
The event is part of Pink October and offers, beyond the races, a lively starting village set up in the Citadelle, with a local producers' market and children's games. A convivial evening with musicians and catering is organized at the Citadelle to share this cross-border moment.

By Car: Montmédy is located in the north of the Meuse department, about 60 km from Verdun via the D964 and 40 km from the Belgian border. From Metz, allow about 1 hour 30 minutes via the A4 then the D643. The Citadel of Montmédy is accessible from the town center in a few minutes via the road leading up to the upper town. Free parking is available at the foot of the Citadel with space for several hundred vehicles.
By Train: The nearest station is Montmédy, served by TER Grand Est from Verdun and Sedan. The Citadel is accessible on foot from the station in about 15 minutes' walk with an ascent to the upper town. A park-and-ride facility is available in the lower town.
From Belgium: Montmédy is easily accessible from Belgium via the E411 motorway (Virton exit), then the N87 and N88. Allow about 30 minutes from Virton and 1 hour 30 minutes from Brussels.
The start and finish are located within the Citadel of Montmédy, upper town, 55600 Montmédy. The entertainment village is set up in the Citadel with producers' stalls, a catering area, and activities for children.
Registration is online on specialized platforms. A medical certificate of non-contraindication to competitive running is mandatory for all timed courses. On-site registration on the day of the race is possible subject to availability, with a price increase.
Minimum equipment may be required depending on the distance: waterproof jacket, minimum 500 ml water supply, charged mobile phone, cup or water bottle. For the 37 km trail, a survival blanket may be requested. Consult the complete race rules before the event for details.
Refreshment stations are set up along all routes, offering water, isotonic drinks, and solid food. A finish line refreshment is provided for all participants within the Citadel. The safety measures include first-aiders stationed on the course and a first-aid post at the start village.
The gourmet walk is open to everyone without prior registration. It offers a hiking route punctuated by gourmet stops at local producers. The producers' market is freely accessible in the Citadel, offering specialties from the Meuse and Gaume region.
As the route crosses the Franco-Belgian border, it is strongly recommended to carry a valid ID (identity card or passport).
Montmédy and its surroundings offer various accommodation options: gîtes, bed and breakfasts, and hotels. Booking is recommended during the race period. The tourist office of the Pays de Montmédy can provide information on availability.
