Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts: From the Citadel to the Franco-Belgian Hills

The Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts (TT2M) is a sporting event that draws its uniqueness from its cross-border nature and its exceptional historical setting. Starting and finishing at the Citadel of Montmédy, runners set off on routes that cross the Franco-Belgian border, traversing the hills and forests of northern Meuse and Belgian Gaume.

Three Distances, Three Challenges

The TT2M offers three race formats adapted to different runner profiles:

  • 37 km Trail (647 m D+): the premier route that takes runners into the heart of the Franco-Belgian landscapes, with significant elevation gain and passages through forests, along ridge paths, and into picturesque villages on both sides of the border.
  • 28 km Trail (636 m D+): an intermediate format that already offers a great immersion into the cross-border hills with sustained elevation gain.
  • 12 km Trail (300 m D+): an accessible route to experience the joys of trail running in an exceptional setting.

The Citadel of Montmédy, an Exceptional Start

The start and finish of the TT2M take place within the Citadel of Montmédy, an imposing fortress erected in 1545 under the reign of Charles V and modified by Vauban in the 17th century. This historical monument, overlooking the Chiers valley, offers a spectacular setting for the start village and the event's festive atmosphere.

Much More Than a Trail

The TT2M is not just a race: it's a truly festive and friendly event for everyone. The program includes:

  • A Gourmet Walk: a hiking route punctuated by tastings of local products.
  • A Lively Village: set up in the Citadel, with stalls from local producers, demonstrations, and entertainment.
  • A Producers' Market: to discover Meuse and Gaume specialties.
  • Children's Games: fun activities for the youngest.

An Event Rooted in its Territory

The Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts illustrates the sporting and tourist dynamism of northern Meuse. By having participants cross the Franco-Belgian border, the event strengthens ties between communities on both sides of the border and highlights a rural territory rich in its natural and historical heritage.

TT2M — edition 2026

The Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts 2026 is scheduled for October, starting from the Citadel of Montmédy, with distances of 13 km, 12 km, and 2.4 km.
