The Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts (TT2M) is a sporting event starting from the Citadelle de Montmédy, a fortress built under Charles V in 1545. The new edition of the Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts (TT2M) takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting from the Citadelle de Montmédy, featuring a brand-new route this year. The program includes a 38 km long loop trail reaching the Belgian village of Montquintin, a 13.1 km short loop trail, and a 13 km gourmet walk, all starting and finishing at the Citadelle.

The Trail Transfrontalier des 2 Monts returns on Sunday, October 11, 2026, with a new route, once again connecting the Citadelle de Montmédy and the Belgian village of Montquintin.

At the start village set up within the Citadelle, a local producers' market and food stalls will welcome participants and visitors.

Practical Information

Access and Transport

By car: Montmédy is located in the north of the Meuse, about 60 km from Verdun via the D964 and 40 km from the Belgian border. From Metz, allow about 1 hour 30 minutes via the A4 and then the D643. The Citadelle de Montmédy is accessible from the town center in a few minutes via the road leading up to the upper town. Free parking is available at the foot of the Citadel with space for several hundred vehicles.

By train: The nearest station is Montmédy, served by TER Grand Est trains from Verdun and Sedan. The Citadel is accessible on foot from the station in about 15 minutes, involving an uphill walk to the upper town. A park-and-ride facility is available in the lower town.

From Belgium: Montmédy is easily accessible via the E411 motorway (Virton exit), then the N87 and N88. Allow about 30 minutes from Virton and 1 hour 30 minutes from Brussels.

Start and Finish Location

The start and finish are located within the grounds of the Citadelle de Montmédy, upper town, 55600 Montmédy. The event village is set up inside the Citadel with a producers' market and refreshments.

Registration is available online at protiming.fr. A medical certificate stating no contraindication to competitive running (or a sports license) is mandatory for timed events.

Equipment

Minimum equipment may be required depending on the distance: waterproof jacket, minimum 500 ml water supply, charged mobile phone, cup or water bottle. For the 38 km long-loop trail, a survival blanket may be requested. Please check the full race rules before the event for details.

Refreshments and Safety

Refreshment stations are set up along all courses, providing water, isotonic drinks, and solid food. A finish-line refreshment area is available to all participants within the Citadel. Safety measures include first-aid responders stationed along the course and a medical post at the event village.

Gourmet Walk and Producers' Market

The 13 km gourmet walk features a route punctuated by culinary stops at local producers. The producers' market is freely accessible within the Citadel, featuring specialties from the Meuse and Gaume regions.

Identity Document

As the route crosses the Franco-Belgian border, it is strongly recommended to carry a valid identity document (ID card or passport).

Accommodation

Montmédy and its surroundings offer a variety of accommodations: gîtes, bed and breakfasts, and hotels. Booking in advance is recommended during race periods. The Pays de Montmédy Tourist Office can provide information on availability.
