An urban beach at the foot of Château-Gaillard
Un Été en Seine is the major summer event in Les Andelys. Every year in July, the banks of the Seine are transformed into a vast open-air leisure space, offering residents and visitors a rich and varied program of sports, cultural, and festive activities. Created in 2021 by the City of Les Andelys, this multidisciplinary and entirely free festival aims to offer lively holidays to those who stay on-site, in an exceptional natural setting dominated by the majestic ruins of Château-Gaillard.
A rich program for the whole family
Every day from 2 p.m., the festival offers a range of free activities on the banks of the Seine: canoeing trips, inflatable structures, giant wooden and board games, beach volleyball court, home ball, racquet games, and sports initiations led by local clubs (athletics, rowing, football, sanball). Children can enjoy creative and manual workshops — making pirate hats, painting, crafting — while adults can try qi gong, salsa and bachata, or participate in sports tournaments.
Shows, concerts, and festive entertainment
The evenings of Un Été en Seine take on a festive dimension with open-air concerts, dance shows, parades, and musical entertainment. The opening ceremony, marked by a parade and an inaugural concert, sets the tone for two weeks of conviviality. A refreshment and catering area managed by the OCLA association allows for extended moments of sharing. Special events like the medieval encampment at the foot of Château-Gaillard complete a program that blends heritage, sport, and popular culture in a resolutely family-friendly and accessible spirit.
