Music and fireworks festival in Vernon to launch the summer in style
The Vern'On Fire Festival is the major festive event of the town of Vernon, in the Eure department. Scheduled every year in July, this three-day festival celebrates the arrival of summer with an eclectic program combining classical music, retro evening, DJ set, and spectacular fireworks. The event takes place in several emblematic locations in Vernon, from the Château de Bizy to the Parc Urbain.
The festival opens with a moment of grace in the inner courtyard of the Château de Bizy, a magnificent 18th-century residence. The Vernon Philharmonic Orchestra performs the most beautiful film scores by candlelight, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere. This candlelit concert, in a remarkable heritage setting, offers a majestic opening to the weekend of festivities.
On Saturday, the Parc Urbain of Vernon transforms into a giant dance floor for a "Back to 90's" evening. A tribute concert to the greatest hits of the 1990s transports the audience into a festive and nostalgic atmosphere. The iconic hits of this decade resonate in the open air, inviting spectators to sing, dance, and relive the irresistible energy of the nineties.
The highlight of the festival is the Sunday evening fireworks display, launched from the Esplanade Jean-Claude Asphe on the banks of the Seine. This pyrotechnic show is orchestrated by Maison Ruggieri, a prestigious fireworks company renowned for illuminating the skies of Paris, Toulouse, Puy du Fou, and Dubai. The fireworks display is preceded by a DJ set that gets the audience ready for this incandescent finale.
Vernon, a town on the banks of the Seine near Giverny and Claude Monet's gardens, offers an ideal setting for this summer festival. The town, rich in remarkable architectural heritage—the Château de Bizy nicknamed the "Little Versailles of Normandy," the Collégiale Notre-Dame, the Vieux-Moulin on the Seine—is adorned with lights and sounds for these three days of celebration. The festival contributes to Vernon's tourist appeal and reinforces its image as a dynamic and festive town.
The Vern'On Fire Festival is a unifying event that brings together the people of Vernon and visitors from across the region. The diversity of the program—classical music, retro variety, electro, and pyrotechnics—appeals to all audiences and generations. The family-friendly atmosphere on Sunday evening, centered around the fireworks, provides a moment of sharing and conviviality that marks the start of summer.
