Meeting of the arts in La Carneille, village of art artisans
For over ten years, the village of La Carneille, located in the commune of Athis-Val-de-Rouvre, has hosted the Week-end des Artistes, an event that celebrates artistic creation in all its forms. This village in the Norman bocage, known for its community of art artisans, transforms for a weekend into a vast open-air gallery.
The Week-end des Artistes brings together around 80 artists from various disciplines:
The works are exhibited in several exhibition spaces, both in public areas (communal halls, gardens) and private spaces (workshops, barns, courtyards), creating an artistic trail through the village.
Each edition highlights a guest artist whose work is presented in a special way. In 2025, the guest artist was Marjolaine Salvador-Morel, and the theme of the edition was "L'envol" (The Flight). This focus on an artist provides a common thread for the event and allows for an in-depth discovery of a creative universe.
In addition to the exhibitions, the Week-end des Artistes offers:
La Carneille is an atypical village in the Norman bocage, known for the permanent presence of art artisans who live and work there year-round. This concentration of artists and creators gives the village a strong cultural identity, which the Week-end des Artistes celebrates every summer.
New edition of the Artists' Weekend in La Carneille (Athis-Val-de-Rouvre, Orne), on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, 2026. Around forty exhibition venues spread throughout this village of art artisans in the Norman bocage welcome approximately 80 artists — painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramists, and engravers. A rock concert, guided tours of the village's history, and a market of local creators and producers complete the itinerary. Free admission.
For its 2026 edition, the Artists' Weekend once again takes over the village of La Carneille on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, 2026. Organized by the Cavée des Artistes collective, the event transforms this village in the Norman bocage into an open-air gallery: approximately 80 artists (painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramists, engravers) exhibit in public and private venues connected by a marked route.
The weekend combines exhibitions, musical entertainment, workshops, conferences, and guided tours dedicated to the history of La Carneille. On Saturday afternoon, a guided tour « La Carneille en histoire » departs from the Halle au beurre at 3 PM, followed by a rock concert in the municipal park. On Sunday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, a market of local creators and producers sets up in the market square, with guided tours departing from the Halle at 10 AM and 3 PM.
Throughout the weekend: workshops, musical entertainment, and conferences. Detailed artist-by-artist program published by the Cavée des Artistes collective closer to the event.
