Welcome in Tziganie: The Spirit of Travel in Seissan
Welcome in Tziganie is a unique festival dedicated to Gypsy, Manouche, and Balkan music and cultures. Every April, the village of Seissan in Gers hosts this event that celebrates the richness and diversity of musical traditions of travel.
An Eclectic Musical Program
The festival features concerts mixing Manouche, Klezmer, Balkan, Oriental, and Flamenco music. Internationally renowned artists such as Goran Bregovic, Les Yeux Noirs, Roby Lakatos, and Soviet Suprem have performed on the Théâtre de Verdure du Soleil d'Or stage. The program creates a dialogue between ancestral traditions and contemporary creations.
Cultural Village and Off Festival
The cultural village and the Off festival offer free access to workshops, exhibitions, debates, Gypsy dance demonstrations, Balkan music and dance workshops. Balkan culinary specialties are featured in the food stalls.
A Committed Festival
Welcome in Tziganie is also a committed festival, defending the values of tolerance, métissage, and cultural encounters. Round tables and documentary film screenings address issues related to Roma and Gypsy communities in Europe.
