Born in 1998 from a gathering of friends, Woodstower had established itself as one of the essential summer events on the Lyon music scene, blending rap, pop, electro, and world music in a green setting. A pioneer of eco-responsible festivals in France, it offered waste sorting, reusable tableware, local catering, and an eco-village.

Created in 1998, Woodstower long enlivened the Grand Parc Miribel-Jonage at the end of summer, before moving to Parc de Gerland (Lyon 7e) in 2025 with a shift in its dates towards July. The festival offered three paid evenings of concerts and a free Sunday open to the public, centered around a program of contemporary music and a committed eco-village.
After several years of difficulties — bad weather and low attendance in 2023, an estimated cumulative deficit of approximately €600,000 over the 2024 and 2025 editions — the 2025 edition, dubbed the "last chance" (July 17-20, 2025), did not allow the association to restore its financial balance. The festival is currently not taking place. If a revival were to be organized in the future, this page will be updated.
