Musical evenings in the heart of a fairy-tale castle
The Château du Rivau, a 15th-century medieval fortress nestled in the heart of South Touraine in Léméré, opens its doors three summer evenings for Apé'Rivau, evenings combining live music, picnics, and conviviality in an exceptional setting. Classified as a Historic Monument, the castle is surrounded by fourteen fairy-tale gardens that have received the "Jardin Remarquable" label, offering a unique green setting for open-air concerts.
An eclectic musical program
Each Apé'Rivau evening offers a different musical flavor, blending discovery and pleasure. The 2025 edition hosted three groups with varied styles: Coco Locos, an authentic Cuban music group with festive and danceable sounds reminiscent of Havana; the Antoine Hervier Colors in Jazz trio, offering inventive and energetic music blending original compositions and jazz standards; and the Adrien Colas Sextet, young musicians from Tours playing music with warm colors rooted in hard bop jazz, with dynamic compositions and refined arrangements.
The art of living in Touraine
The spirit of Apé'Rivau is based on conviviality and sharing. Visitors are invited to bring their own picnic and settle comfortably in the castle gardens, with the possibility of bringing tables and chairs (a limited number of seats are available). For those who prefer to dine on-site, the Flower Bar, located at the entrance to the orchard, offers drinks and snacks, while the restaurant Le Jardin Secret offers refined cuisine by reservation.
An exceptional heritage setting
The Château du Rivau, where Joan of Arc came to fetch horses before the Battle of Chinon, is one of the jewels of Touraine's heritage. Its contemporary gardens, designed as an artistic trail dotted with works of art, create a unique dialogue between medieval heritage and contemporary creation. The Apé'Rivau evenings allow you to (re)discover this magical place in the golden light of the summer twilight, amidst old roses, Gargantua's vegetable garden, and an enchanted forest.
