The oldest electronic music festival in France
Astropolis is the oldest electronic music festival in France, founded in 1995 in Brest. Every summer, for five days, the festival takes over clubs, parks, and unique venues in Brest and the Keroual manor in Guilers for a celebration of the diversity of electronic music. Mixing techno, house, ambient, and sound experiments, Astropolis brings together international artists and the emerging scene in an avant-garde, hedonistic, and festive spirit that makes it a unique event in Europe.
Founded in 1995 by Gildas Rioualen and Matthieu Guerre-Berthelot, Astropolis is the doyen of electronic music festivals in France. Born as a clandestine rave in a field in Finistère-Nord, at Kernouës, the festival has gradually established itself as an essential reference on the European electronic scene.
Astropolis's originality lies in its multi-venue format. For five days, the festival transforms Brest into an ephemeral electro capital: La Carène (contemporary music venue), the Ateliers des Capucins, the mythical Manoir de Keroual in Guilers (theatre of a legendary night under the stars and in the heart of the forest), as well as clubs, parks, and unique venues in the city. This geographical dispersion creates a unique immersive and exploratory experience.
Astropolis stands out for its demanding program that showcases the diversity of electronic music: techno, house, ambient, drum & bass, bass music, and sound experiments. The festival hosts both international legends and emerging artists, championing a curious and open vision of electronic music creation.
Since its origins, Astropolis has cultivated an avant-garde, hedonistic, and collective spirit. The festival is not just a succession of concerts: it is a human adventure, a community of enthusiasts who celebrate the unity and diversity of the electronic scene together. This spirit is reflected in the warm and benevolent atmosphere that prevails at each edition, from electrifying club nights to galvanizing open-airs.
From the first rave at Kernouës in 1995 to the Kériolet castle in Concarneau (1997-2000), then to the Manoir de Keroual from 2001 onwards, Astropolis has continually reinvented itself. The festival attracts between 10,000 and 30,000 people each year, a figure that varies due to its dispersion across multiple venues and events. In 2026, Astropolis will celebrate its 30th edition, a historic milestone for this pioneer of French electro.
The 30th edition of Astropolis will take place from July 3 to 5, 2026, in Brest. This historic anniversary edition will celebrate three decades of electronic music with over 80 artists in 9 different venues.
