Free concerts every summer Wednesday evening in the chapels of Erdeven, in Morbihan
The Erdeven Chapels Festival is a series of free concerts organized by the association Erd'Évènement Vôtre in the heritage chapels of the commune of Erdeven, in Morbihan. Every Wednesday evening in July and August, a concert is offered at 9 p.m. in one of the commune's chapels (Saint-Germain, Lisveur, Saint-Sauveur, des Sept-Saints, de Loperhet…) or at the village church. Admission is free; donations collected are entirely given to associations working for the restoration and maintenance of the chapels.
The festival offers an eclectic program combining ancient and classical music, Celtic and Breton songs, polyphonies, Celtic harp, gypsy jazz, Romani music, and world music. Over the seasons, it has hosted groups such as Stingo Music Club, La Vuelta, Ardarah, Taraf Bohemian, Voden, Imrama, or the Menguy-Béranger duo.
The Erdeven Chapels Festival has been an initiative supported for over fifteen years by the association Erd'Évènement Vôtre, in conjunction with the commune of Erdeven and its tourist office. Every Wednesday evening in July and August, a concert is given at 9 p.m. in one of the Romanesque or Gothic chapels of the commune, lasting approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Admission is free: only donations are collected for the benefit of associations responsible for safeguarding the chapels.
The festival rotates its concerts among the various places of worship in the area: Saint-Germain chapel, Lisveur chapel, Saint-Sauveur chapel, des Sept-Saints chapel, Loperhet chapel, as well as the village church. These buildings, some of which date back to medieval times, offer remarkable acoustic settings and help to keep alive a precious religious and architectural heritage. The concerts are also an opportunity, for visitors and residents alike, to rediscover chapels sometimes discreetly nestled in the hamlets of Erdeven.
The program spans eras and styles: traditional Breton and Celtic songs, medieval music, polyphonies, Celtic harp, chamber music, gypsy jazz, Romani music, world sounds. The invited groups are local, regional, or from further afield. In recent years, ensembles such as Stingo Music Club, Duo Menguy-Béranger, La Vuelta, Ardarah, Voden, Imrama, Taraf Bohemian, and Jean-Paul Albert have performed in the chapels.
Located in southern Morbihan between Carnac and the ria d'Étel, Erdeven is a Breton coastal commune rich in exceptional heritage: the megalithic alignments of Kerzerho, the long Kerhillio beach, dunes and marshes, as well as a scattering of chapels disseminated throughout the hamlets. The Chapels Festival integrates live music into this heritage landscape and fosters dialogue between contemporary creation and secular architecture.
All donations collected during the concerts are given to the associations that restore and maintain the chapels of Erdeven. By attending the concerts, the public therefore directly contributes to the preservation of this religious heritage.

Some chapels are accessible to people with reduced mobility, while others have steps or narrow passages due to their ancient architecture. It is recommended to inquire with the organizing association to find out about the accessibility of each concert venue.
The chapels are not heated: bring warm clothing even in summer, as the stone walls maintain a cool temperature. As the concert ends around 10:30 p.m., a flashlight may be useful for reaching vehicles in dimly lit hamlets. Remember to arrive a little early, as the chapels have limited capacity.
