Brittany's oldest associative and independent rock festival
Founded in 1989 in Roc-Saint-André, Au Pont du Rock is Brittany's oldest associative and independent rock festival. Based in Malestroit since 1995, run by the Aux Arts Etc association, it welcomes nearly 18,000 festival-goers each summer on the Maurice Melois site, in the heart of this medieval town in Morbihan. With its two stages, on-site camping, and friendly atmosphere, the festival champions an eclectic program mixing rock, indie, electro, hip-hop, and French chanson.
The story of Au Pont du Rock began in 1989 in Roc-Saint-André, a small town in Morbihan, where a group of passionate friends founded the association Les Enfants du Roc'k. For four editions, the festival showcased the finest of the French alternative rock scene in this corner of Brittany. After a two-year hiatus, the adventure resumed in 1995 in Malestroit, a medieval town crossed by the Nantes-Brest canal, thanks to collaboration with the Malestroit Art et Culture association. The programming then opened up to blues and reggae, without ever disowning its rock roots.
In February 1999, Les Enfants du Roc'k and Malestroit Art et Culture merged to create Aux Arts Etc, the association that has run the festival ever since. This project extends beyond the summer festival: the association organizes concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, and cultural events throughout the year in the Malestroit region. It is this strong local presence and the desire to foster culture in rural areas that give Au Pont du Rock its unique identity.
In 2002, the festival reached a decisive milestone by introducing two stages, allowing for a wider musical offering and quickly reaching 8,000, then 12,000 festival-goers by 2004. The event takes place on the Espace Maurice Melois, a short walk from the historic center of Malestroit and its famous Place du Bouffay, where festival-goers gather between sets in the town's bars and restaurants. The free on-site camping, shuttle services, and affordable prices reinforce the festival's friendly and popular spirit.
Over its more than thirty-five editions, Au Pont du Rock has built a strong musical identity, blending rock, indie, pop, electro, hip-hop, French chanson, and world music. The festival has hosted artists as diverse as L'Impératrice, The Libertines, Mass Hysteria, Fatoumata Diawara, Gazo, Hoshi, The Avener, Miossec, Caballero & JeanJass, The Murder Capital, Poto Rico, Dynamite Shakers, and Maddy Street. The lineup features a mix of national and international headliners with emerging artists and local Breton talent.
The 2025 edition, which celebrated the festival's 35th anniversary, welcomed 17,500 festival-goers over two days. Despite financial difficulties linked to rising production costs, the Aux Arts Etc association successfully mobilized its audience during support concerts in November 2025, confirming the deep attachment of festival-goers to this emblematic event in inland Brittany. The 36th edition is confirmed for summer 2026, a testament to the vitality and resilience of this festival that remains true to its founding values: independence, artistic quality, and conviviality.
36th edition of Au Pont du Rock in Malestroit on July 31 and August 1, 2026. 18 bands on 2 stages. Gaëtan Roussel, Les Wampas, Oxmo Puccino, L'Entourloop, John Butler, Superbus, The Silencers, and The Inspector Cluzo among the confirmed artists. Lower prices for this edition of resilience.
Following the financial difficulties of the 2025 edition and the success of the "Rebranche les amplis" support concert in November, Au Pont du Rock returns on July 31st and August 1st, 2026 for its 36th edition. The Aux Arts Etc association confirmed the festival's continuation in December 2025, driven by the exceptional mobilization of its audience and partners.
This edition features 18 bands on 2 stages, with a lineup that emphasizes rock, French chanson, and world music. Friday, July 31st, will host Gaëtan Roussel, a prominent figure in French rock chanson, Les Wampas, legends of French punk rock, and Oxmo Puccino, a poetic rapper with sharp lyrics. On Saturday, August 1st, L'Entourloop will bring their explosive blend of reggae, dub, and electro, accompanied by emerging talents Sam Sauvage and Théa.
The lineup has been further enhanced with the announcement of John Butler, an internationally renowned Australian artist, Superbus, an iconic French pop-rock band, The Silencers, Scottish rock legends, and The Inspector Cluzo, a high-energy Gascon rock duo. More names will be announced in the coming weeks.
Prices have been reduced compared to 2025, reflecting the association's commitment to making the festival as accessible as possible and attracting a wide audience for this crucial edition for the future of Au Pont du Rock.
