Cast en Scène: Humor at the Heart of Finistère
Since 2006, the Cast en Scène Festival has established itself as a must-attend event for humor and comedy in Finistère. Every first weekend of July, the small town of Cast, nestled in the Châteaulin countryside, transforms into a true temple of laughter, welcoming professional troupes from all over France to present their latest comedic creations.
A Quality Program Curated by Laure Trégouet
The artistic direction of the festival is managed by Laure Trégouet, who carefully selects shows from the best comedic productions of the Parisian and national seasons. The plays presented are always popular and accessible comedies, capable of appealing to a wide audience, from seasoned theater lovers to newcomers seeking entertainment. The festival typically schedules three different shows over the weekend, with afternoon and evening performances, allowing spectators to create their own comedic journey.
A Festive and Family Atmosphere
Beyond the shows, Cast en Scène cultivates a popular festive atmosphere that is its main charm. The village square of Cast is adorned with its finest decorations to host the festivities: an energetic brass band roams the streets, a swing dance invites spectators to dance between performances, and the local refreshment stand offers drinks in a typically Breton friendly atmosphere. A childcare service is available to allow parents to enjoy the shows with peace of mind.
Strong Territorial Roots
The Cast en Scène Festival is deeply rooted in the local fabric of inland Finistère. The event is organized in close collaboration with the Cast town hall and local associations, and benefits from the support of local businesses and artisans. This participatory and community dimension gives the festival a rare authenticity, far from large impersonal events. Spectators come from all over Finistère and beyond, attracted by the promise of a weekend of laughter in a preserved and warm rural setting.
20 Years of Laughter and Sharing
In 2025, Cast en Scène celebrated its 20th edition, demonstrating the vitality and longevity of this festival driven by a team of passionate volunteers. Twenty years of demanding programming and conviviality have forged the identity of a unique event in the Breton cultural landscape, proving that quality theater can flourish anywhere, even in the smallest rural communities.
