Chambord Sound and Light Show: The Heritage of the World's First Sound and Light Show

It was in Chambord, during the summer of 1952, that the very first sound and light show in the world was born, a visionary idea attributed to architect Paul Robert-Houdin, grandson of the famous illusionist. More than seventy years after this invention, the Domaine national de Chambord perpetuates and reinvents the tradition with a night show of unprecedented scale, combining cutting-edge technology and visual poetry.

An Immersive Show on the Largest Renaissance Facade in France

The show unfolds across the 156 meters of the north facade of the castle, transformed into a monumental screen. For 50 minutes, spectators are plunged into a dreamlike universe thanks to the latest generation of video mapping technology, accompanied by an immersive, spatialized soundtrack. The animated images, with striking precision, bring to life the great periods of the castle's history: the vision of François Ier, royal festivities, the hunt in Sologne, the architectural mysteries of the double-helix staircase attributed to Léonard de Vinci.

An Artistic and Technological Creation

Each edition of the show features an original artistic creation entrusted to studios specializing in digital arts. The combination of animated images, original music, pyrotechnic effects, and light choreography offers a total sensory experience. The castle seems to come alive, its stones alternately recounting historical narratives, legends, and poetic dreams.

Le Fer à Cheval: An Exceptional Natural Amphitheater

Spectators are seated on the Fer à Cheval esplanade, facing the north facade of the castle, in a preserved natural setting in the heart of Europe's largest enclosed forest park. From 6:30 PM, the reception area opens with bars, food, and entertainment. From 8:00 PM, artistic and musical processions prepare the audience for nightfall. The show begins at 10:00 PM, when darkness allows the projections to reach their full dimension.
