Ciné-Environnement: Cinema for Ecology

For over thirty years, the Ciné-Environnement festival has established itself as an essential event for environmental awareness in the Orne region. Organized by students of the BTS Nature Management and Protection (Nature Animation option) from the Auguste Loutreuil agricultural high school in Sées, this film festival combines education, cinema, and environmental commitment.

A Festival By and For Young People

The unique aspect of Ciné-Environnement lies in its organization by the students themselves as part of their training. These future environmental professionals design the program, contact speakers, and manage communication and logistics. This unique educational approach gives the festival an authenticity and sincere commitment that appeals to the public.

Screenings and Debates

For three days, the Le Rex cinema in Sées hosts screenings of documentary films and fiction films related to the annual theme. Each film is followed by a debate with directors, scientists, associations, or environmental professionals. These discussions allow for a deeper exploration of the topics covered and raise public awareness of contemporary ecological issues.

A Different Theme Each Year

Each edition explores a specific theme: forests, water, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, climate change... This thematic approach allows for a coherent and in-depth program, offering the public a comprehensive view of the issues related to the year's subject.

Partnership with Engaged Press

The festival benefits from the support of media committed to environmental issues, such as the newspaper Politis, which regularly participates in debates and helps organize the festival. This partnership strengthens the event's civic dimension and contributes to its visibility beyond the department.

Open to the general public as well as schoolchildren, Ciné-Environnement offers screenings adapted to different audiences. The reduced prices at the Le Rex cinema and the warm welcome from the organizing students make it a friendly and accessible event in the heart of the small episcopal town of Sées.
