About CREACTIONS
The CRÉACTIONS Festival is the annual highlight of the Territorial Contract for Artistic and Cultural Education (CTEAC) supported by the Meuse Grand Sud Agglomeration Community. Organized annually during the first two weeks of June in the municipalities of Bar-le-Duc, Ligny-en-Barrois, Fains-Véel, Naives-Rosières, Tronville-en-Barrois, Velaines, Nançois-sur-Ornain, Longeville-en-Barrois and Savonnières-devant-Bar, it brings together professional shows, workshop presentations, exhibitions, and activities centered around the amateur artistic practices of young people aged 0 to 25.
CRÉACTIONS: Youth at the Heart of Artistic Creation
The CRÉACTIONS Festival is the flagship cultural event of the Meuse Grand Sud Agglomeration Community. Supported by the CTEAC (Territorial Contract for Artistic and Cultural Education) initiative, which has been in agreement since June 16, 2023, with the DRAC Grand Est, the Rectorate of the Academy of Nancy-Metz, and the Meuse Department, it celebrates the artistic creation of young people aged 0 to 25 from the region every June.
A Festival Rooted in Three Pillars: Meet, Learn, Practice
The CRÉACTIONS initiative is deployed throughout the year in schools (from kindergarten to high school), but also in hospitals, at the Second Chance School, in Early Childhood Relays, at the Local Mission, and in socio-cultural centers. It invests in various fields: books, music, media education, heritage, museums, archaeology, architecture and design, arts and crafts, scientific and technical culture, digital creation.
A Multidisciplinary Program
The festival is structured around several complementary formats:
- Professional Shows: invited companies (Cie Mazelfreten, Collectif Toter Winkel, Cie Azimuts, Hanatsu miroir, Cie En attendant…) present their creations at the acb Scène nationale theater, in community halls, or in public spaces.
- Workshop Presentations: about twenty presentations allow young people involved in CTEAC projects to share the fruit of their annual work — theater, choral singing, puppetry, visual arts, dance, music.
- Exhibitions: several exhibitions take over the CDI (Documentation and Information Centers) of colleges (Jacques Prévert, André Theuriet, Robert Aubry) and the acb lobby around the Artistic and Cultural Laboratories (LAC).
- Participatory Workshops: graffiti, screen printing, hip-hop dance, sound immersion, urban cultures, early childhood workshops — all opportunities to practice alongside artists.
A Territory Fully Invested
CRÉACTIONS radiates across the entire territory of the Meuse Grand Sud Agglomeration Community, from Bar-le-Duc to Ligny-en-Barrois, passing through Fains-Véel, Naives-Rosières, Tronville-en-Barrois, Velaines, Nançois-sur-Ornain, Longeville-en-Barrois, and Savonnières-devant-Bar. The main venues are the acb Scène nationale, the Intercommunal Music Conservatory (CIM), the Confluences cinema, the Bar-le-Duc community hall, the media libraries (Jean Jeukens, L'oiseau-lire), the schools and colleges of the territory, as well as heritage sites such as Saint-Antoine Church.
An Artistic Education Approach for All
More than a festival, CRÉACTIONS is an artistic and cultural education approach that mobilizes schoolchildren, social structures, associations, professional artists, and local authorities. With over 1,200 young actors and creators each year, the festival embodies a strong ambition: to democratize access to culture, encourage artistic practice, and foster encounters between professional artists and young audiences.
CREACTIONS — edition 2026
4th edition of the CRÉACTIONS Festival from June 1st to 12th, 2026, in the territory of the Communauté d'Agglomération Meuse Grand Sud (Bar-le-Duc and surrounding communes). On the program: 4 professional shows (including the preview of Rave Lucid by Cie Mazelfreten and De l'autre côté, le monde by Collectif Toter Winkel), 21 workshop presentations, 6 participatory workshops, and 4 exhibitions, centered around the year's guiding quote: "Look at the void, you will see treasures there" (Jules Renard).
Edition #4 — June 1st to 12th, 2026
The 4th edition of the CRÉACTIONS Festival spans twelve days and offers 35 artistic activities in the territory of the Communauté d'Agglomération Meuse Grand Sud: 6 participatory workshops, 4 exhibitions, 4 professional shows, and 21 amateur artistic practice workshop presentations.
2026 Theme: "Look at the void, you will see treasures there"
Jules Renard's quote (Correspondances) serves as the guiding thread for the entire edition. The projects explore the notion of void — vacant space, dead time, memory, silence — as the raw material for creation.
Festival Highlights
- Preview (Friday, May 29th): Rave Lucid by Cie Mazelfreten (seen at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony) at the acb theatre.
- Inauguration (Monday, June 1st): cine-concert Les Maîtres du temps and screening of the documentary film CRÉACTIONS #3 by Clément Simon, at Cinéma Confluences.
- Professional Shows: De l'autre côté, le monde (Collectif Toter Winkel, Thursday, June 4th) and the CIM symphonic concert (Tuesday, June 9th).
- Workshops and Performances: Hanatsu miroir / Franck Vigroux sound immersion at CIM, participatory workshop Occuper le vide by Cie demeure drue at Saint-Antoine church (Sunday, June 7th), urban cultures at the Centre socioculturel de la Libération.
- Closing (Friday, June 12th): show Silence… on détourne ! by the Classe à Horaires Aménagés Théâtre (CHAT) of Collège André Theuriet on the main stage of the acb.
- Festival Bonus: artistic residency Dedans Dehors by Cie demeure drue at Saint-Antoine church (June 5-7); concert Souvenirs d'enfance by the Longeville-en-Barrois school at the CIM auditorium (Friday, June 19th).
