The electronic music festival of Reims
Elektricity is an electronic music festival created in 2003 in Reims, covering the entire spectrum of contemporary electronic creation, from experimental to clubbing. Organized by La Cartonnerie and Césaré in partnership with Le Manège, a national stage in Reims, the festival takes place over a week at the end of September in several emblematic venues in the city: La Cartonnerie, the Parvis of the Cathedral, the Saint-Exupéry Cultural Center, and the Palais du Tau. Elektricity stands out for its commitment to researching and promoting new talents from the French and international electronic scene.
Created in 2003, Elektricity was born from the desire to offer an innovative urban festival dedicated to electronic music in Reims. Driven by La Cartonnerie, a contemporary music venue, and Césaré, a center for contemporary music creation, the festival has established itself as a major event on the electronic scene in France. Its programming, resolutely focused on research and discovery, explores all facets of electronic creation: techno, house, ambient, experimental, IDM, and audiovisual performances.
Elektricity is distinguished by its urban anchoring, taking over several emblematic venues in Reims to create a unique immersive experience. La Cartonnerie hosts clubbing nights and concerts, while the Parvis of Notre-Dame Cathedral transforms into a giant dance floor for open-air electro evenings. The Saint-Exupéry Cultural Center, the Palais du Tau, and Le Manège complete the festival map, offering varied settings for exceptional artistic performances.
Over the years, Elektricity has hosted internationally renowned artists: Nicolas Jaar, Woodkid, Sébastien Tellier, Gesaffelstein, Cassius, Tale Of Us, Boris Brejcha, Madeon, SebastiAn, Hudson Mohawke, and many others. The festival also makes it a point of honor to program emerging artists and original creations, contributing to the constant renewal of the electronic scene.
Elektricity has continuously evolved since its creation, expanding its programming and formats to adapt to the changes in the electronic scene. The festival now offers audiovisual performances, sound installations, conferences, and workshops, in addition to concerts and clubbing nights. This multidisciplinary approach makes Elektricity more than just a music festival: it is a laboratory of artistic creation in the heart of Reims.
