En passant par la Loire: Creation Theatre Along the Water

Born in 2021 from the imagination of the company Le Théâtre des Fées, the En passant par la Loire festival has quickly established itself as a must-see event for performing arts in Loir-et-Cher. Rooted in the territory of Veuzain-sur-Loire, between Blois and Amboise, this travelling festival takes over secret gardens, heritage parks, and unusual locations every summer to resonate with contemporary theatrical expression.

A Festival Committed to Contemporary Creation

The uniqueness of En passant par la Loire lies in its radical commitment to living authors. Here, there are no classics or old repertoire: each performance is an original creation, often designed specifically for the festival and the venues that host it. This bold artistic approach allows the public to discover new texts in productions designed for the outdoors and interaction with the Loire landscape.

Open-Air Poetic Gardens

Each day of the festival, a different poetic garden opens its doors to the public. In these green havens, spectators are invited to listen, recite, sing, or simply let themselves be carried away by moments of grace combining theatre, poetry, classical music, storytelling, and magic. The 2024 edition explored the fascinating theme "Will insects save us?", combining ecological reflection and artistic wonder through seven poetic gardens and an enchanted trail in the Parc des Douves d'Onzain.

Strong Territorial Roots

The festival radiates throughout the commune of Veuzain-sur-Loire and its surroundings, transforming the territory into a vast open-air stage. Heritage sites, vineyards, and natural spaces of the Loire Valley become the living backdrop for theatrical creations that dialogue with local history and geography. This immersion in the landscape makes each performance a unique and ephemeral experience.

Multidisciplinary and Participatory Programming

Beyond theatre, the festival offers a rich and varied program: theatrical improvisations, classical music concerts, magic shows, storytelling walks, readings, and participatory workshops. The public is regularly invited to take part in the creations, blurring the lines between artists and spectators in a spirit of conviviality and sharing that characterizes the event.
