About Épernay Beer Festival

The Épernay Beer Festival is a friendly event celebrating the twinning between Épernay and Middelkerke (Belgium). Every year in early June, Place Hugues-Plomb transforms into a festive village with tastings of artisanal Belgian beers, live concerts, and Flemish gastronomy. The 20th edition will take place in 2026, confirming the success of this free brewing event.

A festive village on Place Hugues-Plomb

Every year at the beginning of June, Épernay's Place Hugues-Plomb transforms into a huge festive village dedicated to beer. The Épernay Beer Festival celebrates the twinning between Épernay and Middelkerke (Belgium) through tastings, entertainment, and moments of conviviality.

Artisanal Belgian beers in the spotlight

Visitors can discover a wide selection of artisanal Belgian beers, from light blondes to strong darks, including fruity and hoppy beers. Among the breweries represented: Chimay, De Leite, Huyghe, Malheur, Leroy, and Jus de Mer. Each participant receives a souvenir cap throughout the weekend.

Flemish gastronomy and concerts

The festival is not limited to tastings: Belgian gastronomy is also featured with typical dishes such as moules-frites and carbonnade flamande. Live concerts, dance evenings, blind tests, quizzes, and games punctuate the three days of festivities.

Operation SAM

The Épernay Beer Festival is a responsible event. Operation SAM allows each group to designate a sober driver, who receives a bracelet at the entrance and benefits from a free non-alcoholic drink. A road safety initiative praised by participants.

20 years of brewing conviviality

Since its creation, the Épernay Beer Festival has continued to grow. The 20th edition in 2026 marks two decades of sharing and conviviality around beer, in a city more associated with champagne. This paradox is the charm of the event, which proves that hop bubbles have their place in the land of champagne bubbles.

Épernay Beer Festival — edition 2026

20th edition of the Épernay Beer Festival, from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, Place Hugues-Plomb. A free festive weekend to celebrate the Franco-Belgian twinning between Épernay and Middelkerke, featuring about ten Belgian brewers, Flemish gastronomy (moules-frites, carbonnade), and concerts.

Anniversary Edition: 20 years of brewing twinning

From Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, Place Hugues-Plomb hosts the 20th edition of the Beer Festival. A symbolic milestone for this event born in 2004 in the wake of the twinning between Épernay and the Belgian coastal town of Middelkerke (formalized in 1967).

About ten Belgian brewers

As every year, about ten Belgian brewers representing the great names of the flat country set up on the square to offer tastings of blondes, browns, ambers, special beers, and aged beers. The Middelkerke-Épernay twinning committee also runs its stand. A souvenir capsule is distributed to each visitor to mark the anniversary edition.

Flemish gastronomy and catering

The FA.S.SOL association provides on-site catering with moules-frites, Flemish carbonnade, hot dogs, fries, croque-monsieur, and appetizer platters. The standards of Belgian cuisine to discover over three days.

Musical program and entertainment

Anim'Event, Matthieu Sax, and Mikael Duval orchestrate the atmosphere throughout the weekend, with a mix of DJ sets, games and blind tests on Saturday during the day, 80s entertainment, a batucada (Guarana), and a rock concert (Mojo Range) on Saturday evening. Sunday is dedicated to French songs.

SAM Operation

The event remains faithful to its road safety approach: each group designates a sober driver (SAM) who receives a bracelet at the entrance and a free non-alcoholic drink. An initiative praised by regulars, in a city usually better known for its champagne bubbles than for its Belgian beers.
