The meeting place for Belgian beer lovers in the heart of champagne
Every year at the beginning of June, Épernay's Place Hugues-Plomb transforms into a huge festive village dedicated to beer. The Épernay Beer Festival celebrates the twinning between Épernay and Middelkerke (Belgium) through tastings, entertainment, and moments of conviviality.
Visitors can discover a wide selection of artisanal Belgian beers, from light blondes to strong darks, including fruity and hoppy beers. Among the breweries represented: Chimay, De Leite, Huyghe, Malheur, Leroy, and Jus de Mer. Each participant receives a souvenir cap throughout the weekend.
The festival is not limited to tastings: Belgian gastronomy is also featured with typical dishes such as moules-frites and carbonnade flamande. Live concerts, dance evenings, blind tests, quizzes, and games punctuate the three days of festivities.
The Épernay Beer Festival is a responsible event. Operation SAM allows each group to designate a sober driver, who receives a bracelet at the entrance and benefits from a free non-alcoholic drink. A road safety initiative praised by participants.
Since its creation, the Épernay Beer Festival has continued to grow. The 20th edition in 2026 marks two decades of sharing and conviviality around beer, in a city more associated with champagne. This paradox is the charm of the event, which proves that hop bubbles have their place in the land of champagne bubbles.
The Beer Festival takes place on Place Hugues-Plomb, in the center of Épernay.
