Fest Jazz: Jazz takes over the banks of the Aulne
Fest Jazz was born in 2005 from a simple gathering of friends at the Tal Ar Pont bar, on the banks of the Aulne in Châteauneuf-du-Faou. What was initially just a modest get-together for jazz enthusiasts has become an unmissable summer event in Central Brittany over twenty years. Supported by the association Jazz Kreiz Breizh, the festival has managed to retain the friendly spirit of its origins while growing in stature.
An international program
Each summer, Fest Jazz welcomes around 130 artists from about thirty bands from all over the world: Italy, Germany, Norway, Australia, and especially the United States, with around thirty American musicians each year. The program celebrates traditional jazz, swing, New Orleans jazz, blues, and soul, with concerts taking place over four days. The 2025 edition broke attendance records with artists like BirdBøx, Kareen Guiock Thuram, and Tuba Skinny.
A unique bucolic setting
The festival takes place on the banks of the Aulne river, offering a rural and green setting that contrasts with the large stages of urban festivals. The atmosphere is that of a giant musical picnic where festival-goers relax on the grass between concerts, enjoying the mild Breton summer. Since 2025, a family area has welcomed children on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
A festival that shines
Fest Jazz has also expanded beyond Châteauneuf-du-Faou with concerts at the Domaine de Trévarez, the magnificent neo-Gothic castle classified as a historic monument. This expansion allows the festival to reach a wider audience and introduce jazz in an exceptional heritage setting. The festival also offers a summer music workshop for amateur and experienced musicians.
