The cultural and festive road trip of the Loir Valley
FestiLoir is a traveling festival of free performing arts that travels through the communes of the Loir Valley, in Sarthe, every summer. Organized by the PETR Pays Vallée du Loir since 2004, this family event offers a week of music, dance, circus, theater, and comedy shows in heritage sites and outdoor spaces. With around 2,000 spectators each year, FestiLoir has become an unmissable summer event that combines culture, heritage, and conviviality.
Since 2004, the FestiLoir festival has traveled through the communes of the Loir Valley to bring performing arts closer to the residents. This cultural and festive road trip, unique in Sarthe, transforms village squares, parks, and heritage sites into ephemeral and free stages for a week.
FestiLoir's originality lies in its traveling format. Every evening, the festival sets up in a different commune of the Loir Valley, offering residents the opportunity to enjoy quality shows without having to travel. The programming, resolutely multidisciplinary, mixes:
In partnership with the Pays d'art et d'histoire de la Vallée du Loir, FestiLoir takes over remarkable heritage sites: old railway roundhouses, castles, medieval squares, and the banks of the Loir. Before each show, guided heritage tours are often offered, combining cultural discovery and performing arts.
The Sarthe Loir Valley is a region of character, dotted with picturesque villages, vineyards (Jasnières, Coteaux du Loir), troglodyte dwellings, and bucolic landscapes. FestiLoir contributes to the valorization of this heritage by drawing attention to often little-known communes: Montval-sur-Loir (Montabon), Loir en Vallée (Ruillé-sur-Loir), Pontvallain, Savigné-sous-le-Lude, La Fontaine-Saint-Martin, and many others.
Entirely free and open to all, FestiLoir brings together around 2,000 spectators each year. The evenings are an opportunity for family picnics, gatherings with neighbors, and sharing a moment of conviviality around performing arts. Supported by the PETR Pays Vallée du Loir, the festival benefits from the support of local authorities and a dedicated team committed to cultural democratization in rural areas.
The 23rd edition of FestiLoir is announced for the week of July 18 to 25, 2026, in the communes of the Loir Valley. Program to be announced. Free shows.
