Free and family-friendly rock festival in Saint-André-le-Gaz
Born in 2014 from the imagination of Jean-Paul Mateusiak and a group of passionate friends, Festirock has become in a few years a must-attend musical event in Nord-Isère. This free rock festival takes place every summer at the Saint-André-le-Gaz stadium, which its organizers humorously describe as "a resistant village that smells of rock'n'roll, cultural, and family diversity".
The Festirock adventure began when a group of friends from Saint-André-le-Gaz decided to share their passion for rock with as many people as possible. The project materialized with a first edition in 2015 which attracted 850 spectators. Encouraged by this success, the organizers developed the festival year after year, reaching 2,400 festival-goers in 2018, driven by the energy of about a hundred volunteers.
Festirock is based on fundamental values: the free nature of the event, openness to all audiences, and artistic freedom. The festival aims to be "a moment of encounters and sharing with this spirit of rock openness and freedom for all generations". This philosophy translates into an accessible and eclectic program, where rock rubs shoulders with other musical genres.
Festirock offers a program that celebrates rock in all its forms: classic rock, alternative rock, pop-rock, independent rock, and other variations of the genre. The festival balances well-known bands with emerging talents, providing a showcase for local and regional artists while also featuring headliners that get the crowd going.
As its slogan summarizes, Festirock is "rock and talent in stock". Each edition promises musical discoveries and energetic live performances that have earned the festival its reputation. In 2019, the festival took a significant step by moving to a two-day format for the first time, on July 5th and 6th.
Festirock is deeply rooted in the life of Saint-André-le-Gaz, a town in Nord-Isère located on the Lyon-Chambéry axis. The festival mobilizes around a hundred volunteers who ensure the organization, logistics, and running of the event. This citizen involvement makes Festirock a true collective project that strengthens ties between residents and energizes local cultural life.
Festirock returns in July 2026 to the Saint-André-le-Gaz stadium for a new free edition open to all. The lineup will be announced in the months leading up to the event.
