Festival Cinédélices

The hedonistic film festival

Prayssac — Lot (46) Since 2012

About Cinédélices

Created in 2012 by the association Ciné+ Cahors, the Cinédélices festival explores each autumn how cinema showcases all pleasures on its screens: curiosity, friendship, love, art, gastronomy, and generosity. Located since 2023 at the Louis Malle cinema in Prayssac, renovated in 2024, this hedonistic festival offers about twenty preview films, meetings with directors, gourmet evenings "Let's dine at the cinema", and youth screenings over four days. A unique event combining the seventh art, culinary pleasures, and conviviality in the heart of the Lot.

A festival dedicated to cinema and pleasures

Since October 2012, the Cinédélices festival has celebrated hedonism through cinema every year. Supported by the association Ciné+ Cahors, chaired by Bertrand Serin, this unique event explores how the seventh art stages the multiple dimensions of pleasure: curiosity, friendship, love, eroticism, art, science, gastronomy, and generosity of spirit. Inspired by Michel Onfray's hedonistic philosophy, the festival reminds us that "the right to pleasure is as important as the right to health and work".

From the Grand Palais in Cahors to the Louis Malle cinema in Prayssac

Born at the Le Grand Palais cinema in Cahors, the festival took a new turn in 2023 by moving to the Louis Malle cinema in Prayssac, in the heart of the Cahors vineyards. This venue, completely renovated in 2024, offers an intimate and warm setting, ideal for fully experiencing the cinematic and convivial atmosphere that defines Cinédélices. The cinema is named after the famous French director Louis Malle, a native of the Lot region, a tribute that resonates with the festival's artistic mission.

An eclectic and committed program

Each edition features about twenty films carefully selected from all categories: comedies, dramas, documentaries, animated films, and short films. The festival stands out for its number of preview screenings — up to eleven during the 13th edition — and for the presence of invited directors, actors, and musicians who engage in discussions with the audience after the screenings. Recent guests include Benoît Delépine, Stefania Rousselle, and Melha Mammeri.

"Let's dine at the cinema": when gastronomy and cinema meet

One of the festival's highlights is the signature event "Let's dine at the cinema", which transforms the Louis Malle cinema into a true hub of conviviality and culinary discovery. For one evening, spectators enjoy a gourmet platter prepared by a local caterer while watching a film. This alliance between the pleasures of the palate and those of the screen perfectly embodies the festival's hedonistic philosophy, creating an awakening of the senses where the magic of cinema blends with the richness of the flavors of the Lot region.

Screenings for all audiences

Cinédélices pays special attention to young audiences by offering screenings dedicated to children and families, featuring animated films and works suitable for younger viewers. The festival also includes morning film clubs, literary encounters in partnership with the Racines bookstore, and musical moments that punctuate the weekend, from the official inauguration on Friday evening to the festive closing ceremony on Sunday.

The Ciné+ Cahors association, driving force of cinema in the Lot

The association Ciné+ Cahors, created in the early 1980s, is a major player in the distribution of arthouse cinema and the discovery of new talents in the Lot department. Beyond the Cinédélices festival, it organizes film screenings, masterclasses, and cultural events throughout the year that contribute to the influence of the seventh art in rural areas. Its commitment to demanding yet accessible cinema makes Cinédélices more than just a festival: a true gathering for gourmet cinephiles.
