Courvillenscène: Culture Celebrated in Courville-sur-Eure

For over eight editions, the Courvillenscène festival has enlivened the commune of Courville-sur-Eure, a charming town nestled in the verdant Eure valley, about fifteen kilometers northwest of Chartres. This cultural event, supported by the town hall's cultural department and Trampoline Production, has become an anticipated gathering for residents and visitors alike.

An Eclectic and Accessible Program

Courvillenscène stands out for the diversity of its programming. Concerts, theater performances, street shows, screenings, and activities for young audiences follow one another, creating a festival that reflects its territory: authentic and friendly. Music plays a central role with artists from jazz, French chanson, folk, and rock, such as Jean-Philippe Fanfant, the iconic drummer from the show The Voice, who performed with his quintet as part of Jazz de Mars.

The deliberately affordable prices (free entry or 5 to 7 euros) reflect the organizers' desire to make culture accessible to the greatest number. This pricing policy allows families and young people to fully enjoy the program without financial barriers.

From Courvillenscène to the Cultural Season

After eight successful editions of the summer festival, the cultural commission decided to broaden the scope by transforming Courvillenscène into a true Cultural Season spread throughout the year. This evolution allows for a vibrant cultural offering in Courville-sur-Eure in all seasons, with highlights such as Jazz de Mars, the Grande Balade, the Book Fair, and the Fête de la Musique.

The Fête de la Musique is a particularly festive occasion, with three days of free concerts in the streets of Courville. Local artists and invited bands take over the town squares and terraces for the delight of Courville's residents and their neighbors.

Courville-sur-Eure, Land of Culture

Courville-sur-Eure, with its approximately 2,800 inhabitants, offers an attractive heritage setting for this cultural adventure. The Saint-Pierre church, the nearby Château de Villebon, and the banks of the Eure create a bucolic atmosphere conducive to outdoor performances. The commune also benefits from the dynamism of Chartres Métropole, which supports cultural initiatives within its territory.

The festival and the cultural season perfectly illustrate how a small rural commune can become a hub for artistic creation and dissemination, proving that culture is not confined to big cities.
