International film festival in Vernon dedicated to Normandy and the Art World
The Festival de la Normandie et le Monde de l'Art is an international film festival created in 2009 in Vernon, in the Eure department. Organized by the association CinéNum, it presents short and feature films, in competition or out of competition, around two themes: Normandy (films shot in Normandy or by Norman directors) and The Art World (films dedicated to artists, their works, and the creative process). Screenings take place at the Vernon cinema-theatre and in neighboring venues, offering a program open to all audiences.
Created in 2009 under the name "La Normandie et le Monde", the festival has evolved to become La Normandie et le Monde de l'Art, a must-see cinematic event in the Eure department. Organized by the association CinéNum, based in Vernon, this international festival presents short and feature films in and out of competition, screened in the four rooms of the Vernon cinema-theatre, at the Théâtre municipal Marcel Beaufour, and in other locations in the city.
The festival is structured around two axes that make it unique. The "Normandy" theme highlights films shot in Normandy or made by Norman filmmakers, thus celebrating the regional cinematic heritage. The "The Art World" theme explores the links between cinema and artistic creation: films about artists, their works, museums, and creative processes, echoing the proximity of Giverny and its Impressionist heritage.
Several awards are presented at each edition: best short film "The Art World", best short film "Normandy", audience award, and best screenplay award. A jury of film professionals selects the winning films from the official competition entries, while the public votes for their favorite film.
Located in Vernon, at the gateway to Giverny, the festival benefits from an exceptional cultural environment. The proximity of the Musée des Impressionnismes and the Fondation Claude Monet nourishes the festival's artistic theme, while open-air screenings and meetings with directors create a friendly and accessible atmosphere.
The Festival de la Normandie et le Monde de l'Art 2026 will be held in Vernon in October. Screenings of short and feature films, competitions, meetings with directors, and the awarding of jury and audience prizes.
