The Festival de la Solidarité de Mainvilliers: Engaging through Music and Sharing

Each year in November, the town of Mainvilliers, on the outskirts of Chartres, hosts the Festival de la Solidarité, a flagship event of the Collectif Solidarité Chartrain. Integrated into the national Festisol network (Festival des Solidarités), this event brings together about fifteen local associations around common values: openness to the world, solidarity, social justice, and respect for the environment.

A Rich and Multidisciplinary Program

The Festival de la Solidarité de Mainvilliers stands out for the diversity of its programming. Over the years, the event has featured world music concerts, slam poetry, engaged theater, documentary screenings followed by debates, solidarity cooking workshops, cooperative games, dance walks, and conferences on topics as varied as sustainable food, migration, participatory democracy, and interculturality.

Over Twenty Years of Solidarity Commitment

Initiated over twenty years ago under the impetus of the Ligue de l'enseignement d'Eure-et-Loir, the festival is part of the national Festisol dynamic, which mobilizes thousands of actors across France each year. The Collectif Solidarité Chartrain, which co-manages the event, brings together associations committed to international solidarity, popular education, and citizenship.

True to the spirit of the national Festisol, the Festival de la Solidarité de Mainvilliers is an entirely free event, open to all audiences. The activities are designed to be accessible and participatory, allowing everyone to get involved, discover, and share. The festival takes place in various locations in Mainvilliers and the Chartres urban area, notably at the Compa - Musée de l'Agriculture, located at Pont de Mainvilliers.
