About Gueilles de Bonde
Les Gueilles de Bonde is a free street arts and music festival held every first weekend of September in the heart of the village of Macau, at the gateway to the Médoc region, about thirty minutes from Bordeaux. Established in 2003, it is organized annually by volunteers from the Festival Les Gueilles de Bonde association, with support from the local municipality. There is no ticketing or reservation required.

The 21st edition of the Gueilles de Bonde festival takes place on Friday, September 4th and Saturday, September 5th, 2026, in the heart of the village of Macau, Gironde. Enjoy two days of free street arts and music, featuring concerts by Tiger Rose, Les Humeurs Cérébrales, Left Corner, and Obsydían, along with five street performances on Saturday and a grand pyrotechnic show to close the event.
2026 Edition
The Gueilles de Bonde festival celebrates its 21st edition on September 4th and 5th, 2026, in Macau. The festival is completely free, with no tickets or reservations required.
Friday, September 4th, is our "French Evening": the festival kicks off at 7:30 PM, followed by three performances until 12:15 AM. On Saturday, September 5th, shows will take place across various locations—the town hall esplanade, the Tiers-lieu garden, the church square, and the Place Duffour Dubergier parking lot—from 2:45 PM to 8:50 PM. Saturday night features two concerts followed by a spectacular fireworks display by Ellipse Pyrotechnie.
The festival is organized by the volunteers of the Festival Les Gueilles de Bonde association, known as the "Gueilleurs," with support from the town of Macau. The association funds the event through partnerships and public donations collected via HelloAsso.

The Festival des Gueilles de Bonde
The first Festival Les Gueilles de Bonde took place on September 5th and 6th, 2003, at the initiative of the Macau Tourist Office. The name comes from the "gueille de bonde," a square of burlap used to seal the bung of a wine barrel, reflecting the village's location between the Bordeaux Supérieur and Haut-Médoc wine appellations.
The festival has moved several times, from Place Carnot to the port of Macau, before settling in the renovated town hall square. Today, performances take place on the town hall esplanade, in the Tiers-lieu garden, on the church square, and in the parking lot of Place Duffour Dubergier.
The program spans two days: a concert evening on Friday, street performances on Saturday afternoon, two concerts on Saturday night, and a fireworks display to close the event. Admission is free; the association funds the event through partners, sponsors, and public donations.
