Festival du Conte de Capbreton: The Art of Spoken Word by the Ocean

Since 1989, the Festival du Conte de Capbreton has celebrated the art of storytelling and spoken word in an exceptional setting, between the ocean and the Landes forest. In over thirty-five years of existence, this festival has become a major event for storytelling in France, recognized by professionals and the general public for the quality of its programming and the diversity of its invited artists.

A Generous and Participatory Festival

For five days, the Festival du Conte offers:

• Over 50 shows of tales, stories, narrative performances, and hybrid forms
• 36 artists from France and abroad, representing the diversity of world oral traditions
• 3 participatory projects involving residents of Capbreton and neighboring towns
• Workshops and meetings with storytellers for children and adults

The festival takes place in several locations in the town:

• Salle Ph'Art du Casino municipal: Indoor shows in an intimate atmosphere
• Esplanade de la Liberté: Festival village with a bookstore, refreshment stand, and outdoor shows
