The young audience film festival in the heart of the Vercors
Created in 1987 in Lans-en-Vercors, the Festival Jeunes Bobines is the unmissable event for young audiences' cinema in Isère. Every winter, for a week, Le Cairn transforms into a magical universe dedicated to the 7th art for children and families. With over 30 films screened, previews, a jury of young cinephiles, workshops to discover the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking, and activities for all ages from 3 years old, the festival offers a rich and demanding program that celebrates cinematic creativity and emotion.
Since 1987, the village of Lans-en-Vercors has hosted a unique cultural event every winter: the Festival Jeunes Bobines, a film festival entirely dedicated to young audiences and families. Originally named "Festival Pierrot Gourmand" and organized by the tourist office in the town hall's function room, this cinematic event has continuously grown and reinvented itself over its nearly four decades of existence.
The festival has experienced several significant milestones. Sponsored in its early days by the brand Pierrot Gourmand, it became the "Festival du film pour enfants" (Children's Film Festival) in 2000. In 2016, the non-profit cinema Le Clap took over the artistic direction and gave it its current name, Festival Jeunes Bobines, with a new ambition: to offer a demanding film program, open to the world, highlighting young performers and works intended for all ages. Since 2017, Le Cairn, the cultural and sports center of Lans-en-Vercors, has hosted and coordinated the event in partnership with Le Clap, the town hall, the inter-municipal tourist office, and the media library.
Each edition features over 30 carefully selected films: feature films and short films in competition, previews, animated films for toddlers in the "Petites Bobines" (Little Reels) section (ages 3+), a panorama of the year's best animated films, and themed screenings. The films come from all over the world, offering spectators an opening to diverse cultures and stories, carried by talented young actors.
One of the festival's unique features is its jury composed of 8 teenagers aged 13 to 18, who award three prestigious prizes: best feature film, best short film, and best performance award. These young jurors participate in a cultural preparation program before the festival, developing their critical eye and cinematic sensibility.
Beyond the screenings, the Festival Jeunes Bobines offers a rich program of workshops and activities that allow the public to discover the behind-the-scenes of the 7th art: stop-motion workshops, green screen special effects, optical toys, dubbing and sound effects, cine-concerts, cinematic escape games, blind tests, and immersive exhibitions at the media library. Each edition is built around a unifying theme that transforms the spaces of Le Cairn into an enchanting universe: enchanted forest, celestial journey, world of stars...
The festival also hosts meetings with directors and film professionals, as well as screenings of animated short films made in stop-motion by students from local schools, the result of educational work carried out throughout the year.
The Festival Jeunes Bobines is designed to be a moment of intergenerational sharing, an event "from 3 to 103 years old" as its organizers like to say. Admission to workshops, stands, and activities is free, and film screening prices remain very affordable, with reduced rates for children and families. The festival attracts thousands of spectators each year, making Lans-en-Vercors a major hub for young audiences' cinema in France.
The 37th edition of the Festival Jeunes Bobines was held from February 12 to 18, 2026, at Le Cairn in Lans-en-Vercors, on the theme of the "Enchanted Forest." Over 30 films screened, a young jury, workshops, a cine-concert, a focus on Miyazaki, and numerous activities made this edition a magical event for families and cinephiles of all ages.
For its 37th edition, the Festival Jeunes Bobines plunged its audience into the marvelous world of the "Enchanted Forest". From February 12 to 18, 2026, Le Cairn was adorned with a fairytale setting populated by imaginary creatures and enchanting foliage, transforming the cultural center of Lans-en-Vercors into a place of cinematic magic.
This edition featured over 30 carefully selected films: feature films and short films in international competition, previews, current films, the "Petites Bobines" program for toddlers aged 3+, and a panorama of the year's best animated films. The works came from all over the world, with a short film screened before each feature film in competition.
The jury composed of 8 teenagers aged 13 to 18 awarded its prizes after a week of screenings and deliberations:
The Audience Award for best short film went to "Saint-Honoré" by Christopher Caulier and Mohamed Seddiki.
Beyond the screenings, the 2026 edition offered a particularly rich program of activities: five workshops to discover the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking led by professionals, a family cine-concert by the SZ company, a Miyazaki focus with a quiz for fans of the Japanese animation master, an escape game, a cinematic blind test, an immersive installation at the media library, and the traditional screening of stop-motion short films made by local school students.
