The Festival of Medicinal Plants and Mountain Trees is a cultural and scientific event that highlights the plant heritage of the Catalan Pyrenees mountains. Organized by the association Jardins et Savoirs at the Chalet des Airelles in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via, this festival brings together enthusiasts, professionals, and the curious around the virtues of mountain plants and trees.

Traditional Knowledge and Plant Sciences

The festival's mission is to promote and preserve traditional knowledge related to medicinal plants and mountain trees, while promoting modern scientific understanding. The program includes conferences on phytotherapy, homeopathy, Bach flowers, gemmotherapy, and aromatherapy, led by recognized specialists. The French Federation of Harvesters and the French Federation of Herbalism Schools are among the exceptional participants of the festival.

Workshops, Walks, and Market

Beyond the conferences, the festival offers interactive practical workshops for making products and forest outings led by professionals. A guided nature walk on the theme of plants, trees, and biodiversity is offered on Saturday at 3 PM from the Chalet des Airelles, accessible to families with children aged 7 and up. A local producers' market offers essential oils, hydrolats, jellies, syrups, cosmetics, and other plant-based products.

The festival takes place at the Chalet des Airelles, located on the slopes of Font-Romeu at an altitude of 1,800 meters. Accessible by chairlift from Font-Romeu, by car, on foot via marked forest trails, or by bike, this venue offers an exceptional natural setting in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees. An astro-musical evening concludes the festival in this outstanding mountain setting.
