Maritime and heritage festival celebrating the island of Oléron
The Festival Trésors de l'Île is an unprecedented event celebrating the heritage riches of the island of Oléron. Labeled "Year of the Sea 2025: the sea in common" by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, this festival is part of a sustainable development and territorial valorization approach. For five days, from June 24 to 28, the entire island becomes the stage for fifty-five events, most of which are free.
The festival offers a rich program to discover Oléron's know-how: maritime, terrestrial, heritage, literary, and musical knowledge. Visitors can attend maritime demonstrations, listen to sardine sellers' and sailors' songs, participate in musical processions like that of the "Mâles de Mer" in the streets of Saint-Pierre, or discover the repertoire of the choir "Tous ensemble" at the port of Saint-Trojan. The festival celebrates both built heritage and living traditions of the island.
The festival's objective is to encourage a better understanding of the territory as well as the sea and its contemporary issues. Through conferences, exhibitions, and activities, the festival invites visitors to discover Oléron and Poitou-Charentes authors who tell stories of the sea and the region, while raising public awareness about environmental issues. This approach makes the festival a cultural, educational, and civic event, celebrating heritage in a spirit of transmission and preservation for future generations.
Second edition of the Trésors de l'Île Festival, from June 24 to 28, 2026, across the entire island of Oléron. Fifty-five events (visits, shows, songs, conferences, exhibitions), mostly free, celebrate Oléron's maritime, agricultural, and heritage expertise, with an increased focus on local practices and sustainable development.
The second edition of the Trésors de l'Île Festival takes place from Wednesday, June 24 to Sunday, June 28, 2026 across the entire island of Oléron, from north to south and east to west. Fifty-five events (mostly free or open access) punctuate these five days dedicated to maritime and terrestrial heritage, on the occasion of the festival's second season.
This 2026 edition emphasizes local practices and sustainable development. The program explores Oléron's expertise — maritime, terrestrial, heritage, literary, and musical knowledge — through visits, shows, songs, conferences, and exhibitions. The objective announced by the organizer remains the same: to bring together what is usually dispersed to offer a clearer understanding of the island's realities, to promote trades, and to foster a better understanding of the territory and its contemporary challenges.
Some events require prior registration with one of the fourteen tourist offices of the island of Oléron and the Marennes basin. The detailed program will be published on the tourist office websites in the weeks leading up to the event.
