Born in 2012 from the imagination of several musicians from the Corbie region, FestiVaux sur Somme is a music festival dedicated to promoting the local music scene. Every autumn, the village hall of Vaux-sur-Somme, a small village in the Somme valley located about fifteen kilometers east of Amiens, transforms into a concert venue for an evening of intense and friendly live music.
The purpose of FestiVaux sur Somme is simple and essential: to offer a quality stage to bands and musicians from the Somme and Hauts-de-France, giving them the opportunity to perform in professional conditions and reach an audience beyond their usual circle. The festival usually invites four bands per evening, selected for the diversity of their styles and the quality of their performance.
The programming of FestiVaux sur Somme reflects the richness and eclecticism of the regional music scene. Rock in all its forms forms the core of the festival—from independent rock to progressive rock, from post-punk to acoustic ballads—but neighboring styles also find their place: progressive metal, indie rock, pop, sad core, and various sonic experiments.
Throughout its editions, FestiVaux sur Somme has hosted bands that illustrate the vitality of musical creation in the Hauts-de-France. Among the bands that have left their mark on the festival: Mind CollapSe, a progressive metal band that blends power and elegance, with committed lyrics on ecology and social issues; Your Own Film, an indie rock/sad core group with visceral energy; Zyes, a vocal duo offering warm pop with British and Eastern influences; Leaf Down, an Amiens-based rock quintet inspired by The Beatles, Hendrix, Britpop, and punk.
Vaux-sur-Somme is located in the Somme valley, between Amiens and Corbie, in a landscape of marshes, ponds, and wet meadows that constitutes one of the most beautiful ecological corridors in northern France. The village, which notably houses the Parc de Samara, an archaeological site and historical reconstruction, is a stopping point for hikers and nature lovers.
The choice to host a music festival in this village reflects the organizers' desire to bring culture to rural areas, to create moments of sharing and conviviality in areas often far from urban cultural programming. FestiVaux sur Somme, with its symbolic entrance fee and relaxed atmosphere, perfectly embodies this philosophy.
By car: Vaux-sur-Somme is located about 15 km east of Amiens and 5 km west of Corbie, on the D1 along the Somme valley.
