The Fête de Draveil: Summer at Port aux Cerises
Draveil is a town in Essonne with around 30,000 inhabitants, located on the banks of the Seine, which boasts an exceptional natural asset: the Île de loisirs du Port aux Cerises. This 136-hectare artificial island, created in the 1970s on the banks of the Seine, is one of the largest outdoor leisure areas in Île-de-France. It provides the privileged natural setting for the town's summer festivities.
Port aux Cerises: A Jewel for the Festival
The Île de loisirs du Port aux Cerises has beaches, bodies of water, sports facilities, and large meadows ideal for hosting open-air events. This unique place, both natural and developed, allows the town of Draveil to organize cultural and festive events in a setting that rivals the most beautiful regional leisure islands.
The Great Summer Festivities of Draveil
Draveil's summer calendar is marked by several highlights:
- The National Day on July 13th: musette ball, dancing, guinguette, and fireworks at Port aux Cerises. A popular and family-friendly event eagerly awaited by the residents of Draveil.
- Île-de-France celebrates theater (late July): a free and family-friendly festival organized by the Île-de-France region, with 5 theater, circus, dance, and music performances over several days. In 2025, the 9th edition will take place from July 22nd to 27th.
- The Judo Tour (late July): a regional stage of the judo tour, with free introductory sessions for children and adults.
- Sports activities throughout the summer: kayaking, sailing, swimming, beach sports at Port aux Cerises.
The Leisure Island, a Permanent Park
Beyond the summer festivities, Port aux Cerises is open to the public all year round and offers leisure, sports, and relaxation activities for all ages. A water sports center, sports clubs, restaurants, and picnic areas make this place a must-visit in Essonne.
Draveil, the Green Town of Essonne
Draveil is one of the greenest towns in Essonne, with over 40% of its territory covered by natural and forest areas. The Forêt de Sénart borders the town to the east, offering walks and outdoor fitness trails. Sports and outdoor life are an essential component of Draveil's identity.
2025 Edition
The 2025 summer season in Draveil featured the National Day celebration on July 13th with fireworks, a musette ball, and a guinguette at Port aux Cerises. From July 22nd to 27th, Île-de-France fête le théâtre (9th edition) offered 5 free and family-friendly shows including theater plays, circus, and music. The Judo Tour concluded the events on July 28th.
2026 Edition
Draveil's 2026 summer season is anticipated with the same program: National Day at Port aux Cerises in July, a regional theater festival, and free sports activities throughout the summer.
Fête de la Ville — edition 2026
Summer 2026 in Draveil comes alive at the Île de loisirs du Port aux Cerises with two free highlights: the Fête Nationale (fireworks, musette ball and guinguette in mid-July) then the regional festival L'Île-de-France fête le théâtre, from July 21 to 26, 2026. For its 10th edition, this entirely free festival, offered by the Région Île-de-France, takes over the Port aux Cerises with a week of family shows combining theatre, dance, circus, and storytelling.
Draveil's Summer Festivities 2026
As every summer, the Île de loisirs du Port aux Cerises becomes the heart of Draveil's festive activities. The season traditionally opens with the Fête Nationale in mid-July: fireworks launched over the lake, a musette ball and guinguette in a popular and family-friendly atmosphere, with free access.
L'Île-de-France fête le théâtre — 10th edition (July 21 to 26, 2026)
A highlight of the summer, the regional festival L'Île-de-France fête le théâtre returns to Port aux Cerises from July 21 to 26, 2026. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Région Île-de-France has entrusted the organization to the national drama center Les Tréteaux de France. The festival presents, between Port aux Cerises and the Île de loisirs de Cergy-Pontoise, nearly 90 performances and about forty artistic workshops.
On the program in Draveil: narrative theatre, dance, circus, storytelling, and participatory forms, for all ages. All shows and workshops are free, with online reservation (Eventbrite).

Free sports and water activities complement the summer program at Port aux Cerises throughout July.

By RER: RER D to Juvisy-sur-Orge, then bus 402 towards Draveil Port aux Cerises.
By car: N6 towards Corbeil, exit Draveil. Paid parking at the entrance to the leisure island.

Free entry for National Day festivities. Access to the leisure island is subject to a fee outside of events (normal park rates).
