The sea in the spotlight in Trebeurden
The Fete de la Mer de Trebeurden is a free maritime event organized every August 15th by the Yacht-Club de Trebeurden at the Esplanade du Castel, on the magnificent Pink Granite Coast. From 10 a.m. to midnight, this festive day celebrates the sea through nautical activities, demonstrations, conferences, and musical entertainment.
Sea trips and demonstrations
The public can embark on sailing baptisms aboard the Yacht-Club's boats, discover rescue dogs in action, visit the SNSM (Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer) lifeboat, and attend sea rescue demonstrations. 30-minute mini-conferences on marine themes — biology, geology, technology — take place throughout the day.
Mass, bagad, and entertainment
The day begins with a mass with blessing of the boats, an age-old maritime tradition. The Bagad de Treguier and music groups — folk, Celtic rock — entertain the festivities, while exhibitor stands, catering, and refreshment stands complete the program. More than 80 volunteers contribute to the success of this event, which attracted over 1,000 people in 2024.
