Jazz, rock, pop and baroque flute at the Jardin de la Ménagerie and the Petit Château de Sceaux on June 21st
Sceaux, a town of 20,000 inhabitants in the Hauts-de-Seine department, renowned for its exceptional Domaine de Sceaux and its Parc de Sceaux, offers a unique setting every June 21st to celebrate the Fête de la Musique. Between the Jardin de la Ménagerie, the Hôtel de Ville, and the Petit Château, the concerts take place in an exceptional heritage environment.
The Jardin de la Ménagerie (70 rue Houdan) is the central venue for the Fête de la Musique in Sceaux. Each year, this green space hosts the orchestras from the contemporary music school EDIM from 4 PM onwards for a quality pop, rock, and jazz program.
From 7 PM, the stage under the marquee takes on a festive dimension with the "Music Sceaux Live" program: local and regional artists perform one after another for contemporary music concerts. In 2025, the electro-pop band Milla Leika kicked off the evening at 7 PM, followed by the indie rock group Omega Violet at 8 PM, bringing infectious energy to this open-air event.
The Hôtel de Ville de Sceaux (122 rue Houdan) hosts a program each year combining the repertoire of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Bourg-la-Reine/Sceaux. From 6:30 PM to 8 PM, a jazz tentet and string orchestras (Premières Cordes, Sinfonia, Grandes Cordes) perform in this institutional setting, offering the public a high-level musical discovery accessible to all.
One of the hidden gems of the Fête de la Musique in Sceaux is the concert held at the Petit Château de Sceaux. From 7 PM to 8 PM, Valérie Balssa and Jacques-Antoine Bresch present a recital titled "Aux sons de la flûte, de la Renaissance au Grand Siècle" (To the sounds of the flute, from the Renaissance to the Great Century), exploring the evolution of the baroque flute from its origins to the 17th century. This intimate and refined concert is an invitation to travel through time, within the magnificent architectural setting of the Petit Château.
Sceaux maintains an ancient musical tradition. The Sceaux estate has historical ties to music – it was the site of many musical festivals under the Dukes of Maine in the 17th century. Today, the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Bourg-la-Reine/Sceaux, the EDIM school, and numerous local musical associations perpetuate this musical vocation in a town that remains one of the most culturally active in the Hauts-de-Seine.
The Fête de la Musique is an opportunity for all these ensembles to play outdoors, for free, for a wider audience who can thus discover the most diverse genres in a single afternoon and evening, from baroque flute to electro-pop.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Sceaux will take place on Sunday, June 21st, with a free program spread across several heritage sites: 17th-century music at the Petit Château with the Kapsber'girls quartet and conservatory students, and a pop / rock / indie evening at the Jardin de la Ménagerie hosted by the MJC de Sceaux with the Magic Michel Orchestra and its opening acts.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, Sceaux celebrates the Fête de la Musique by utilizing its heritage sites for a day and evening of free concerts. The Petit Château de Sceaux, setting for the future Musée du Grand Siècle, hosts a classical and baroque program centered on 17th-century music, while the Jardin de la Ménagerie transforms into a large pop, rock, and indie stage under a marquee, thanks to the MJC de Sceaux.
The afternoon is dedicated to the scholarly repertoire of the French 17th century. Students from the Conservatoire à rayonnement intercommunal Bourg-la-Reine / Sceaux open the festivities with a program inspired by the collections of the Petit Château, before the concert by the vocal and instrumental quartet Kapsber'girls (Alice Duport-Percier, Axelle Verner, Garance Boizot, Albane Imbs) who present their creation « À court d'air ! » featuring court airs and dances from the early 17th century.
In the evening, the MJC de Sceaux sets up a marquee in the Jardin de la Ménagerie for over four hours of free concerts, food trucks, and a bar. The Magic Michel Orchestra, a cover supergroup celebrating its tenth anniversary, concludes the evening with around thirty musicians on stage, after two opening acts from the Déclencheur support program of Studios la Caisse Claire.
All concerts are free to attend. The Domaine de Sceaux and the city center, accessible via RER B (Sceaux station), will also feature other amateur and associative groups for this 2026 edition.
Additional programming in the city center and at the Hôtel de Ville to be confirmed by the City of Sceaux closer to the event.
