The Fête de la Musique in Châlons-en-Champagne: the summer's musical event

Every June 21st, the city of Châlons-en-Champagne celebrates music in all its forms for the Fête de la Musique. Since 1992, the City has entrusted the association Musiques sur la Ville with the organization and coordination of this event, which has become a must-attend in Châlons' cultural life.

Three stages in the heart of the city

The Fête de la Musique in Châlons is based on three main stages, each dedicated to a different style:

• "Music" Stage on Place de la République: hosts rock, pop, French chanson, jazz, and variety bands
• "Dance" Stage on Place Foch: dedicated to world music, dances, and festive rhythms
• Grand Jard Bandstand: dedicated to electronic music, featuring local collectives and groups

An open and popular program

Around fifty musical groups from the region perform throughout the evening starting at 5 PM. The association Musiques sur la Ville coordinates artist registrations, project proposals, and the setup of equipped stages. In addition to the official stages, musicians spontaneously take over the streets, terraces, and cafes in the city center, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere throughout the city.

An event rooted in Châlons' cultural life

For over thirty years, the Fête de la Musique in Châlons-en-Champagne has embodied the meeting of amateur and professional musicians, offering an "original, open, quality, and popular" program. In 2025, the event also included guided tours of the "Music and Châlonnais" exhibition at the Bibliothèque Pompidou, blending heritage and musical discovery.
