The 44th Fête de la Musique takes over Angers on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 7:00 PM to midnight, with a new feature: an early start at 3:00 PM in eight strictly pedestrian areas in the city center, where instrumental music is highlighted in the afternoon. More than seventy free stages and events are announced by the City of Angers, from the squares of the historic center to terraces, shops, gardens, and quays. Rock, reggae, electro, jazz, variety, world music, Latin, rap, classical, and dance: all styles collide, with free access and no reservations required.

44th edition — Sunday, June 21, 2026

The 44th Fête de la Musique takes place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Angers. Coordinated by the City of Angers, the event takes over the city center for free: pedestrian streets, squares, gardens, quays, café terraces, and shops host amateur and professional musicians across all musical styles. Artists, whether solo or in groups, perform freely in the participatory and open spirit of the Fête de la Musique, and the program published by the City is not exhaustive: everyone is free to set up wherever they wish in the public space.

Schedule and early start from 3:00 PM

Concerts run from 7:00 PM to midnight throughout the city center. A new feature for this 44th edition: music can start as early as 3:00 PM in several strictly pedestrian and secured areas, with priority given to instrumental music in the afternoon — Jardin du Mail, Place Giffard-Langevin, Place Saint-Éloi, Place de la République, Place du Pilori, Place Michel-Debré, Cale de la Savatte, and Promenade du Bout-du-Monde.

"Chantons ensemble" at Place du Ralliement

From 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, the forecourt of the Grand-Théâtre at Place du Ralliement hosts the grand vocal gathering "Chantons ensemble": several local choirs present their repertoire in turn, followed by a participatory moment where the public is invited to sing all together to celebrate the richness and diversity of amateur choirs.

The evening's major highlights

As for the squares, Place du Pilori features reggae from Zenzile starting at 4:30 PM, rap from MLK Fox, rock from The Coffin Corner, and then electro from Union Art and MBO until midnight. Place Saint-Éloi hosts Les Deux Moi z'Elles in the late afternoon, the 6th Engineer Regiment Brass Band from 8:15 PM to 9:30 PM, and then swing collectives Beat That Swing, Swing Corner, and Flying Swing until midnight. The Promenade du Bout-du-Monde embraces the Breton spirit with Rouedad – Les Bretons d'Anjou, Ansker, Dansaël, and Men Glaz, along with the bagad and circle Men Glaz – Kevrenn d'Anjou from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Jardin du Mail kiosk is shared between 1MGc, DJ Adel, and the Ensemble Vocal Angevin. Plaine Saint-Serge brings together the electro and reggae sets of AMEF and Connect Hi-Fi, while the Saint-Serge Abbey and the Angers Cathedral open their doors to classical music with Vox Campus and Le Printemps des Orgues.

Traffic, tramway, and water bars

Traffic and parking are closed in the city center from 7:00 PM to midnight, within a perimeter bounded by Boulevard Carnot, Boulevard du Roi-René, and Boulevard du Maréchal-Foch — these boulevards remain open, with the exception of Boulevard Foch, which is closed from 8:00 PM to midnight. The Pont de Verdun is also closed. Regarding transport, tram line C is diverted starting at 6:30 PM and the Ralliement station is closed; several bus lines will have their schedules and routes modified. Free water bars are set up at Place Imbach, at the corner of Rue Plantagenêt and Rue Saint-Laud, as well as at Place du Ralliement at the Entraid'Addict 49 association stand, from 7:00 PM to midnight.

The Fête de la Musique in Angers: a popular tradition

For over forty years, the Fête de la Musique has been a major national event, and Angers is one of its most festive cities. Every June 21st, the day of the summer solstice, the city comes alive with dozens of free concerts that take over the pedestrian streets, squares, parks, café terraces, and courtyards in the city center.

An eclectic program

The richness of the Fête de la Musique in Angers lies in the diversity of its programming. Official stages, set up on the city's main squares, host local and regional artists across all musical genres: rock, pop, jazz, blues, swing, French chanson, world music, classical, choir, hip-hop, electro, and many more. In parallel, amateur musicians freely occupy the streets and public spaces, creating a spontaneous and warm atmosphere.

The City of Angers coordinates the organization of the event, in partnership with local cultural associations and music venues in the city. Several stages are set up in different neighborhoods, allowing a wide audience to enjoy music close to home.

A moment of sharing and conviviality

The Fête de la Musique in Angers is a special moment of intergenerational sharing. Families, students, retirees, and tourists gather to celebrate music in all its forms. The festive atmosphere continues late into the evening, making this solstice night one of the liveliest of the year in Angers.

A reach across the metropolitan area

While the heart of the festival beats in the city center of Angers, many towns in the metropolitan area also organize their own musical events on the same evening, creating a festive network across the territory. Public transport on the Irigo network is reinforced for the occasion, facilitating festival-goers' travel.
