Every June 21st, the day of the summer solstice, the city of Avranches vibrates to the rhythm of the Fête de la Musique. Created in France in 1982 by the Ministry of Culture, this national event invites all musicians, amateurs or professionals, to perform for free in the streets, parks, and halls of the city. In Avranches, the Fête de la Musique has been very popular for many years.

An eclectic program

The Fête de la Musique d'Avranches offers a rich and varied program, with concerts of pop, rock, jazz, funk, electro, Breton music, French chanson, and many other genres. Several stages are set up in the city center, allowing the public to wander freely from one concert to another, according to their desires and musical discoveries.

Local and regional artists

The Fête de la Musique is above all a celebration of live musical practice. Amateur bands, music school students, community orchestras, and regional artists share the stages, offering a complete panorama of the musical vitality of the area. Established artists are also scheduled for evening concerts.

The streets of Avranches transformed into an open stage

The center of Avranches, with its squares, gardens, and alleys, offers an ideal setting for this music festival. Café and restaurant terraces fill up, passers-by linger in front of street musicians, and a festive atmosphere invades the city until the end of the night. Brass ensembles, guitarists, singers, and DJs follow one another in a joyful festive cacophony.

A free event open to all

True to the spirit of the Fête de la Musique, all concerts are free and open to all. It is an opportunity for families, young and old, to come together and share a moment of conviviality around music, in the town overlooking the magnificent bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.
