Fête de la Musique in Les Sables-d'Olonne
Just like everywhere else in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique turns this Vendée seaside resort into an open-air stage every June 21. Organized by the City of Les Sables-d'Olonne, the evening is entirely free: "Here, the Fête de la Musique is friendly, laid-back, and shared throughout the city, on the beach, and of course in our bars and restaurants," summarizes Mayor Nicolas Chénéchaud in the official program's editorial.
Two seated stages around the Tribunal
The Jardin du Tribunal hosts the main stage and its headliners, with a lineup that builds in intensity until nightfall: afro-pop, rock blues, and live electro. Right next door, the Place du Tribunal features the "Local Revelations" stage, dedicated to regional talent and young artists in a more intimate setting.
Around twenty concert spots along the Remblai
Starting at 5:30 PM, the Promenades Georges Clemenceau and de l'Amiral Lafargue, Place Navarin, and La Pendule will host seventeen bands across nine numbered locations. In just a few hundred meters, strollers can wander from jazz-bossa to acoustic pop covers, from reggae-ska to traditional Vendée music and sea shanties by the Groupe de Chant des Olonnois.
Brass bands, fishing port, and beach
The Rotonde Foch, at the end of Rue Travot, becomes the "Brass Band Square": three roaming bands will take turns there all evening, playing everything from New Orleans funk to afro-jazz. The fishing port will feature country dancing, DJ sets, and vinyl nights in its bars, while Tanchet beach wraps up the day with "Les Sets de Plage," a now-traditional disco/house event, with your feet in the sand at sunset.
