About Fête de la Musique in Marseille
Every June 21, Marseille celebrates the Fête de la Musique: from the Old Port to Cours Julien, from Le Panier to the beaches, amateur musicians, music schools, and professional artists freely take over the streets, squares, and quays of the Phocaean city. Organized by the City of Marseille, the day is entirely free and kicks off the Marseille Summer.

The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Marseille takes place on Sunday, June 21st, with free events all across the city. The highlight of the day is "La Voie est Libre": the Corniche Kennedy will be pedestrianized from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, featuring five stages dedicated to Latin, urban, hits, electro, and disco music. The Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra performs at the Opera at 4:00 PM, the Citadelle at Fort Saint-Nicolas hosts gospel, gypsy jazz, and klezmer from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and eight rock and punk bands will take the stage at La Plaine from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. June 21st also marks the official start of the Marseille summer season.

On the Corniche — "La Voie est Libre", 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM
The Corniche Kennedy is fully pedestrianized from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, between Rue du Capitaine Dessemond and Parc Talabot, featuring five stages and five distinct vibes.
- Latin Stage — Mémorial des Poilus d'Orient: flamenco with Juan Luis Fernandez (5:00 PM-6:00 PM), cumbia with Pablo Espinoza (6:00 PM-7:00 PM), salsa with Pablo & Cuarteto Cubano (7:00 PM-8:00 PM), rumba with Tekameli & Friends (8:00 PM-9:15 PM), shatta with DJ Lina (9:15 PM-11:00 PM)
- Urban Stage — Traverse Clastrier, 5:00 PM-11:00 PM: dance battles, cyphers, and rap with Thabiti, Le Bigs, Hiitch, Yacer, and HT, followed by a closing hip-hop set by DJ Djel (Fonky Family)
- Hits Machine Stage — Plage du Prophète, 5:00 PM-11:00 PM: 90s-2000s hits sand floor party with Eau Vive, Trackworks, DJ Soon, and Claudia BB
- Electro Stage — Parking du Prophète, 5:00 PM-11:00 PM: groovy house, techno house, and deep house with DJ Oyster Catcher, Nico Boudou, Dub Striker, and the M Town Collectif
- Disco Stage — Parking de l'Hélice, 5:00 PM-11:00 PM: soul train and roller disco with Pola Facette, disco funk with Mr Valero, West Coast funk with Mofak, and finally DJ Kheops
Throughout the route: karaoke, blind tests, and voice battles at the Chemin du Roucas Blanc bus shelter, solar observation with Provence Astro, a solar-powered mobile electro stage, cultural and sports activities, and food trucks.
At the Marseille Opera — 4:00 PM
- 4:00 PM — Free concert by the Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jakob Lehmann, featuring cellist Miriam Prandi: Weber's Freischütz Overture, Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme Op. 33, and Symphony No. 4 in F minor Op. 36. Free admission with reservation, maximum 2 tickets per person.
At the Citadelle, Fort Saint-Nicolas — 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM
The fifth edition of the Citadelle's Fête de la Musique. Doors open at 4:00 PM with concerts starting at 5:30 PM. Free entry subject to capacity; catering provided by Maison Charlie from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
- 5:30 PM — Terrasse du Moulin: DJ set by Matt's DJ (5:30 PM-7:00 PM), then RHU (7:30 PM-10:30 PM)

Free workshops upon registration: DJing initiation and advanced classes (Trae Joly and Marsatac), gospel discovery (Orchestra Studio), and Yiddish singing and dancing (Léa Platini).
At La Plaine, Place Jean-Jaurès — 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Eight rock, punk, and pop bands programmed by the 4th and 5th arrondissement town hall in partnership with Intermédiaire Live. Open access for all.

- CMA de la Barasse (11th) — from 3:00 PM: bouncy castles and on-site catering; concerts starting at 7:00 PM with The Cairns and The Five Frequencies
Local bars, terraces, music schools, conservatories, and cultural venues across the city round out the program, especially around Cours Julien and Place Notre-Dame du Mont.

Free admission. Only the Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille concert at the Opéra requires prior booking, limited to 2 tickets per person ([email protected], 04 91 55 11 10 or 04 91 55 20 43). Entry to the Citadelle is free, subject to capacity.
Access
We recommend using RTM public transport (metro, tram, bus), which will have increased service in the evening. On the Corniche, traffic and parking are prohibited from 4:00 PM to midnight; local resident access remains possible via dedicated routes.

Fête de la Musique in Marseille
Just as it has across France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique turns Marseille into an open-air stage every June 21st. From the afternoon well into the night, music takes over public spaces for free, covering every genre imaginable: rock, jazz, classical, rap, electro, reggae, and world music.
A celebration in every neighborhood
The festivities spread across all city districts: open-air concerts, stages at Cours Julien and Place Jean-Jaurès, events in Le Panier and La Joliette, and neighborhood parties in the 11th and 12th arrondissements, not to mention the bars, music schools, conservatories, and cultural centers opening their doors to the public.
The Corniche pedestrianized: the highlight of the day
In Marseille, June 21st also marks the start of the "Été marseillais" (Marseille Summer). For the occasion, the city organizes a special "La Voie est Libre" event: the Corniche Kennedy is given over to pedestrians from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, between Rue du Capitaine Dessemond and Parc Talabot, featuring five musical stages, cultural and sports activities, and food trucks all along the route, overlooking the Mediterranean.
