Every June 21, Montargis celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur and professional musicians freely take over the streets, squares, and terraces of the «Venice of Gâtinais». Organized by the City of Montargis, the day is entirely free and open to all, regardless of style.
The Fête de la Musique in Montargis
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Montargis city center into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces: local bands, music schools, and guest artists play in the streets, squares, and along the canals that give the «Venice of Gâtinais» its charm.
A celebration throughout the city center
Usually, several stages are set up in the streets of central Montargis, bringing together groups of all styles — rock, rap, chanson, classical, jazz — for a festive and friendly evening. Bars, terraces, and associations complete the entertainment throughout the evening.
