Fest-noz and fireworks at the port of Esquibien
The Fête de l'Embarcadère is a festive and popular event held every July 14th at the port of Esquibien, on the parking lot of the Sainte-Évette ferry terminal in Audierne. Organized by the Esquibien Animation Committee, this maritime festival combines Breton music, fest-noz, traditional food, and fireworks facing the ocean. Around large shared tables, festival-goers enjoy mussels and crepes before dancing to the sound of traditional bands.
Every July 14th, the port of Esquibien comes alive for the Fête de l'Embarcadère, a festive and popular gathering rooted in maritime and Breton traditions. The event takes place in the parking lot of the Sainte-Évette ferry terminal, the departure point for boats to the Île de Sein, offering an exceptional setting facing the Atlantic Ocean and the tip of Cap-Sizun.
The evening is set to the rhythm of Breton and maritime music groups that liven up the meal and then draw the public into an authentic fest-noz. Among the groups that have animated the event: La Misaine, Clipper ar C'hab, and Fa Quarter, ensembles that perpetuate the tradition of maritime music and Breton dances. Beginners and experienced dancers alike gather on the dance floor to share gavotte, an-dro, and hanter-dro in a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Volunteers from the Comité d'Animation d'Esquibien offer affordable catering: mussels, sausages, fries, fish, crepes, and Breton cakes, accompanied by various drinks at the bar. The large eight-person tables encourage conviviality and sharing, creating a popular festival atmosphere where locals and visitors mix naturally.
The highlight of the evening is the fireworks display launched facing the ocean, offering a magnificent pyrotechnic show in the natural setting of the port of Sainte-Évette. This magical moment brings all participants together before the fest-noz resumes, continuing until 1 AM.
The Fête de l'Embarcadère draws its identity from its emblematic location: the Sainte-Évette ferry terminal, the gateway to the Île de Sein and a symbol of the maritime heritage of Cap-Sizun. This geographical anchoring gives the event a unique atmosphere, between land and sea, tradition and celebration, making this July 14th evening an unmissable event of the summer in the Audierne region.
The Fête de l'Embarcadère returns on July 14th, 2026, to the port of Esquibien in Audierne for another evening of fest-noz, food, and fireworks facing the ocean.
