The City Festival of Saint-Michel-sur-Orge in the Orge Valley
Saint-Michel-sur-Orge (91240) is a dynamic town in Essonne, on the banks of the Orge river, with numerous sports and cultural facilities and a particularly active associative life. Every first weekend of September, the town organizes its grand City Festival, two days of festivities in the Orge Valley, a developed natural space that forms the green heart of the town.
The Orge Valley, near the swimming pool and the COSEC (Sports Center), is the chosen location to host the City Festival. This vast green space, crossed by the Orge river, offers the ideal natural setting for a popular outdoor festival. The proximity of sports facilities allows for a multiplication of activities and the creation of an extended festive village that welcomes several thousand visitors over the two days.
The City Festival of Saint-Michel-sur-Orge offers a rich program spread over two consecutive days, usually Saturday and Sunday. The format has been proven over the years and allows it to reach a maximum number of Saint-Michel families.
Saturday is particularly festive with, notably, karaoke and musical performances by Zicos, local bands that light up the main stage of the Orge Valley. In the evening, fireworks mark the highlight of Saturday, illuminating the valley sky for everyone's amazement. A dance party then concludes the day in a festive and relaxed atmosphere.
Sunday has a more family-oriented and sporty vibe. The morning is marked by the Course en Or (Race for Gold), a solidarity charity race or walk against childhood cancers, with all proceeds going to a partner association. This solidarity aspect is one of the specificities of the Saint-Michel City Festival, which combines celebration and civic engagement.
The association forum is one of the most anticipated events of the City Festival. The numerous Saint-Michel associations—sports clubs, cultural groups, humanitarian associations, neighborhood committees—present their activities and welcome new members. This forum is particularly strategic at the start of the season: it's the ideal time for residents, new and old, to get involved in local associative life.
The City Festival offers various activities to satisfy all audiences: inflatable games and obstacle courses for the youngest, food stalls for foodies, exhibitions, and cultural activities for the curious. All in a festive and warm atmosphere that has characterized the Saint-Michel City Festival for many years.
Saint-Michel-sur-Orge is a town of over 22,000 inhabitants, with a particularly rich associative and cultural fabric. Its calendar of major events also includes the Ronde Saint-Michelloise (running race in April), the Christmas Market (late November), summer activities (Village Vacances, mid-July to mid-August), and many other events throughout the year.
The Saint-Michel-sur-Orge Town Festival 2026 will take place on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 in the Vallée de l'Orge. Two days of free entertainment for the whole family: associations forum, games, shows, fireworks and a dance party on Saturday, followed by the solidarity 'Course en Or' on Sunday morning (9th edition, September 6, 2026).
The Town Festival once again takes over the Vallée de l'Orge on the first weekend of September 2026, Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, for two festive days, free and open to all.
Saturday is dedicated to family entertainment, the associations forum, world food stalls, and a festive evening program (karaoke, musical performances, fireworks, followed by a dance party).
On Sunday morning, the Course en Or takes place, a charity run and walk to fight pediatric cancers, whose 9th edition is confirmed for September 6, 2026 (starts and finishes at the Lucien Simon stadium, in the Vallée de l'Orge). The funds collected are entirely donated to a partner association — for 2026, « Ayden, un combat pour la vie ».
The detailed schedule and complete artistic program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Town as the event approaches.
Course en Or times confirmed by the Town; the detailed artistic program for the weekend (headliners, precise times) is not yet published at the time of verification.
