The Saint-Michel-sur-Orge Town Festival: Two Days in the Orge Valley

Saint-Michel-sur-Orge (91240) is a town in the Essonne department with over 22,000 residents. Nestled along the banks of the Orge river, it boasts excellent sports and cultural facilities and a vibrant community life. Every year in early September, the town hosts its Town Festival, two days of celebrations in the heart of the Orge Valley.

The Orge Valley

The festival takes place in the Orge Valley, near the swimming pool and the COSEC Tony Guigonis sports complex. This green space, crossed by the river, hosts the main stage, the community village, international food stalls, and games. The fireworks display is launched from the nearby Lucien Simon stadium.

Two Days, Two Vibes

Saturday night goes late: enjoy community performances on stage throughout the afternoon, an early evening concert, fireworks, and a dance party that lasts until the small hours. Sunday is more focused on sports and family fun. The day kicks off at the Lucien Simon stadium with the 'Course en Or', a charity run and walk supporting the fight against pediatric cancer, followed by festivities that continue until late afternoon.

The Community Forum

Around a hundred sports clubs, leisure groups, and charitable organizations host stands throughout the weekend, where you can sign up on the spot. It is the essential back-to-school event for Saint-Michel residents looking for a new activity for the season.

Free Entertainment

From bouncy castles, scavenger hunts, and photo booths to duck fishing, giant trampolines, giant chess, and a dedicated area for toddlers, all activities are free, just like admission. Municipal services also host information stands, and international food stalls provide refreshments throughout both days.

Other Saint-Michel Events

The town also organizes the 'Ronde Saint-Michelloise' (a running race in April), the Christmas Market (late November), and the 'Village Vacances' (from mid-July to mid-August).
