The Festa di San Roccu (Saint-Roch Festival) is celebrated every year on August 16th in Bastia, in the historic Terra Vechja district. Organized by the Cunfraterna di San Roccu, this religious and popular festival takes place around the Saint-Roch oratory and includes masses, a procession, and a concert of traditional Corsican songs.
On August 16, 2026, Bastia celebrates Saint Roch, a festival perpetuated by the Cunfraterna di San Roccu (a brotherhood founded in 1788, refounded in 2005). The tradition originates from the Great Plague of 1569, from which the city was, according to legend, preserved by the intercession of Saint Roch.
The day unfolds around the Saint-Roch oratory, rue Napoléon, in the heart of the old town (Terra Vechja). The festivities combine religious fervor, a procession through the district's narrow streets, and Corsican polyphonic songs.
Program renewed identically each year; precise times confirmed by the Tourist Office and the brotherhood for recent editions.
