Fête des Vendanges de Cheverny: Wine in celebration in the heart of the vineyard

Created in 2012, the Fête des Vendanges de Cheverny has become in a few years an unmissable event in the wine calendar of the Loire Valley. Organized every first Saturday of September in the heart of the village of Cheverny, this festive and friendly day celebrates the AOC Cheverny and AOC Cour-Cheverny appellations, two exceptional vineyards in the Cher valley.

Thirty winegrowers gathered for tasting

The heart of the festival is the free tasting offered from 11 am to 6:30 pm by about thirty winegrowers from the appellation. Visitors can purchase a tasting glass for 5 euros and visit the stands to discover the red, white, and rosé wines of AOC Cheverny as well as the white wines of AOC Cour-Cheverny, made from the ancestral Romorantin grape variety, unique in the world. It is a rare opportunity to meet the winegrowers, discuss their winemaking methods, and discover the specificities of this unique terroir.

Vineyard walks

From 8:30 am, walking and cycling routes take participants to discover the Cheverny vineyard. These guided tours cross the plots and hillsides of the appellation, offering panoramic views of the wine landscape and explanations about grape varieties, soils, and vineyard work.

Family and musical entertainment

The Fête des Vendanges is designed as a day for the whole family. Family activities include a press where children can crush fresh grapes to get juice, inflatable structures, mini-golf, and bike courses for the younger ones. The day continues with music, with open-air concerts animating the village until the early evening.

Gastronomy and local products

Around the tasting, food stands and local products allow visitors to discover local specialties that pair well with Cheverny wines. Cheese producers, charcutiers, bakers, and artisans offer their creations to accompany the discovery of the vineyard's vintages.

Free and open access

True to its spirit of sharing and conviviality, the Fête des Vendanges has free and open access. Only the tasting glass is paid (5 €), allowing everyone to participate in this celebration of wine and the Cheverny terroir in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
